Kirata -> A feminist posthumanist politics of . . . squirrels (5/10/2017 12:59:21 PM)

Another oppressed minority surfaces.

Given that the shift in tree squirrel demographics is a relatively recent phenomenon, this case presents a unique opportunity to question and re-theorize the ontological given of ‘otherness’ that manifests, in part, through a politics whereby animal food choices ‘[come] to stand in for both compliance and resistance to the dominant forces in [human] culture’. I, therefore, juxtapose feminist posthumanist theories and feminist food studies scholarship to demonstrate how eastern fox squirrels are subjected to gendered, racialized, and speciesist thinking in the popular news media as a result of their feeding/eating practices, their unique and unfixed spatial arrangements in the greater Los Angeles region, and the western, modernist human frame through which humans interpret these actions.

Why would anyone introduce MORE squirrels, let alone a different kind of squirrel?

These are kind of slave squirrels. They have been taken from their rightful homeland and brought to a new land where they must do whatever squirrel thing is needing to be done, receive no wages. and eat nothing but the trash they can forage for. It is sad really.

FREE THE SQUIRRELS!

Who is oppressing you, K? I won't stand for it!

You are entitled to whatever forum nickname you choose, no matter how silly it looks to everyone else!

And I'm *sure* that nobody here thinks of you as a squirrel.

While there's no doubt about Kirata not being a squirrel, his penchant for parading his nutiness in public, a known squirrel trait, is another matter. [;)]

Peon and tweak are feminists. It's funny how they act like men aren't entitled to complain in support of their gender while women get all the leeway they want. We will never see peon or tweak responding to a woman in the same manner when she talks about women having it bad but when men talk about men having it bad, its open season to ridicule them.

So treating genders differently is what feminists call equality. Why should feminists be taken seriously when they obviously don't want equality to begin with.

Feck's sake, RM - why do you have to come here all the time to find people to oppress you? Have you completely run out of people who'll agree to oppress you on FetLife?

That's the exact thing feminists do. So why is there one standard for women doing it while another standard when men do it?

Can you see who the privileged ones are here? Women get leeway that men are forbidden to have. That's not equality. That's favouritism and privilege.

Who could be bothered, why would any one in their right minds be bothered oppressing RM? He does such a thorough job of oppressing himself that any further oppression by others would be superfluous, utterly redundant.

It might be best to leave RM and Kirata alone so that they can continue to discuss the dangerous politics of squirrelology. Perhaps they might find a slogan such as 'Nut-lovers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but your shells' ...a useful point of departure.

Feminists oppress men all the time. They keep thinking men aren't entitled to things that women are.

The only oppressers in western society are feminists. They are the only ones oppressing a gender. If all men all the sudden acted like feminists in support of men, women would be squealing that it's not fair.

Something that all feminists have in common, they loooooove double standards. [:D]

No one will put up with him in person, this is the only venue he's got.

Stef is another double standard lover. That's because she's a feminist too.

Well, there is the detail that the paper cited is about squirrels having it bad. [:)]

Are you under the impression that I wrote the paper cited above?

Or are you just... you know. [8D]

Apparently, squirrels are more important than men when it comes to feminism. Feminists have no concern over the problems men face but they do have concern for squirrels.

You wouldn't know a feminist if she came up and bit you in the ass. You enjoy trying to stir up sh^t and no one takes a thing you say seriously. You've just a joke.

Is a feminist anyone who thinks you're a whiny babyman?

A feminist is usually someone who is pro woman's rights, anti men's rights, and is a massive hypocrite.
