However, In February President Trump tried to get Comey to stop the investigation into Flynn and the Russians. Among the reasons for firing Comey that came out after the memo, the Flynn investigation and the Russian thing were mentioned. The one man that should have had zero to say about Comey being fired, Sessions, had recused himself and turned over operations to the assistant AG, but was consulted about firing Comey. Of course, the assistant AG saying some month's ago he would not step in unless it appeared that there were efforts to hamper the investigation gets wind that President Trump tried to shut down the investigation and suddenly a special prosecutor is appointed? Of course, there is one curious thing, a top GOP hardliner made the statement that he knows Flynn well enough to know the man is a stand up guy, he wont lie to save his own skin, and everyone that knows Flynn agrees or seems to agree on this. His next statement on cnn tonight was most telling, and considering he was involved in the Iran Contra special prosecutors investigation, makes me wonder, "He might have been used." When asked what he meant, his answer was simple, "He might have been doing what he was told to do." Now, if this is the case, and there turns out to be some serious wrong doing and illegal activities, even if President Trump was not involved, the President is going down with all the people who were involved, simply because his actions since the election are screaming cover up. And I said this months ago on this board. No administration has had this many screw ups and had to do this much damage control in all my memory. It is almost as if the GOP got him nominated simply because he could beat Hillary and no one else could. If he goes down, that leaves his VP in the driver's seat, a man that is far more qualified to hold the office than Trump, but could not have beaten Hillary. And when you have Erick Erickson saying Trump may have messed up with the release of the intelligence to the Russians and it may be worse than any of us know, a man who sang Trump's praises throughout the campaign, it begins to look like the GOP is going to throw Trump under the bus, the train and off a pier with cement loafers. Thank you for taking the time to go through it all, Jeff. There is more. Reporting tonight . . Flynn told the transition committee he was under investigation but Trump appointed him anyway. And the VP, the head of the transition committee, claims he didn't know Flynn was being investigated. But, I suspect this will all pale when the Special Counsel starts looking at the financial records The partisans on this forum will never accept, however, that we face a Constitutional crisis due to the president's hubris. [hubris is not a sex organ, tamaka]
