House majority leader to colleagues in 2016: ‘I think Putin pays’ Trump

KIEV, Ukraine — A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

And they have the transcript

Which means, it came from someone working for one of those GOP members.

Can we say, "Oops!"

Termyn8or -> RE: House majority leader says "Putin pays Trump" (5/17/2017 9:55:19 PM)

Because it was said it is true. Got it.

And sometimes you gotta think, how the fuck would they know anyway ?

Comrade Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.

House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.

Comrade Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.”

The remarks remained secret for nearly a year.

So the GOP are complicit too and ruskie rats? is that why they appear disinterested in the Russian thingy and have downplayed it at every opportunity, and stubbornly resisted calls for a proper inquiry. Nothing to see here sniggers.

Are you sure there isnt a silent "R" in GORP
Grand old Russian Party or does the p stand for Putin?
Was the transcript originally in Russian?

Hahahaha.

Love to see how skeptical the RWNJs become when they're the ones falling apart.
Obama is a Muslim, btw.

They still haven't learned -- it's the coverup that gets ya.

Kirata -> RE: House majority leader says "Putin pays Trump" (5/18/2017 5:39:55 AM)

Actually, of course, he didn't say "Putin pays Trump." You made that up.

He said, "I think" Putin pays Trump, just like I could say I think Soros pays you.

Good grief, get a life.

Isnt he the same guy who said that the email investigation was politically based against hillary
mouthy lil twit isnt he...., what I thought was funny in the whole exchange was Ryan talking about leaks.
Ah yes....

So now we know: One of the principal reasons Republicans spent so much public money investigating the tragic Benghazi episode was to bring down Hillary Clinton’s poll numbers.

Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), the likely successor to House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), told Fox News’s Sean Hannity explicitly on Tuesday night that the Clinton investigation was part of a “strategy to fight and win.”

He explained: “Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened, had we not fought.”

Comrade Ryan instructed his Republican lieutenants to keep the conversation private, saying: “No leaks. . . . This is how we know we’re a real family here.” Democracy and the American people did not come into the equation. Only the need to hide more corruption from them.

In essence they:
1. Initially denied he said that
2. Then said oh he did say that that but oh it was a joke
3. Hushed up said joke

that was my favourite bit

That makes it better?

Christ, the man basically stated a belief (I think) that a political figure was being paid by a Foreign leader.

Jesus, either way it makes little difference.

BoscoX -> RE: House majority leader says "Putin pays Trump" (5/18/2017 1:01:28 PM)

In the transcript there was laughter, because it was a joke like you

mnottertail -> RE: House majority leader says "Putin pays Trump" (5/18/2017 1:03:45 PM)

So, we got like nine co-conspirators that Putin has killed for Il Douchovitch, and now we have to add Roger Ailes to that list.

"I think" is not a statement of belief, and could easily be sarcasm (example above). All you've done here is to put a fish on your hook, slip it into the water, and then reel it in crying, "Look everybody! Look what I caught!"

No, what I did was post a link to a news story that included a transcript of a conversation.

What you are doing is denying that during the election last year, while discussing the Russian military in the Ukraine and the Russian hacking of the DNC server, some GOP congress members were discussing Trump, and when discussing the hacking of the DNC:

quote:

Ryan: The Russian's hacked the DNC....
Mchenry: ...to get oppo...
Ryan: ... on Trump and like delivered it to... to who?

Funny thing, they knew what was accessed, and then asked who the Russians gave it to.

Seriously, who would the Russians give it to?
Who would benefit?
Who could have possibly used that information?

Lets see, had to be delivered to Jeb Bush.

Let me guess k, if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, its a Missouri Mule, right?

So far this week it has come out that Trump tried to get Comey to shut down an investigation on Flynn.
We have him first saying that it was the memo from Justice that made him fire Comey, then tweeting that he had decided to fire Comey before the memo due to the Russian investigation, we have his staff trying to do damage control (which only works if Trump would keep his mouth shut and away from twitter.)

Face it, if Trump is impeached, the Conservatives still have the white house with a much better qualified man in the oval office. Hell, if Mike Pence had been running I would have voted for him in heart beat.

Instead we have a guy that all through the campaign openly promised to do things that would violate the constitution while running against a liberal political whore who's only real motivation is image.

How is "I think" not a statement of belief?
