It seems like Trump is so fucking stupid/insane/senile that he doesn't seem to realize that firing Comey isn't going to make the Russia thing go away... but it seems pretty obvious at this point that that was what he was trying to do, so an obstruction of justice charge seems forthcoming. Maybe he can plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
