Status: offline 		I can't stand how the Lib Media are making a hoo ha about Melania and Ivanka donning Headscarfs at the Vatican and refusing to wear it in Saudi.

First of all, Michelle Obama did precisely the same.

Second of all, I believe all 3 ladies are Christians, so why shouldn't they want to do something of their own religious culture?

Third of all, the Vatican doesn't force women to wear head scarfs at all times 24/7 like Saudi does.

They only ask if you wanna visit a certain place, you wear it. But if you don't wanna wear it, don't visit it, period!

Not a whole country where you MUST wear headscarf.

Now if it's dress code just for a mosque, I understand.

So if I don't want to wear head scarf, I just make sure I never ever visit a Mosque. That's dresscode for like, some restaurants doesn't allow jeans, so if I wanna wear jean, I don't go there.

It's like apple and oranges.

I only wondered if the reason she wore the mantilla was because she was catholic?.
That would make perfect sense to me.
She is abiding by her belief system.
I didnt even bother to look at the story in any detail, so I dont know if it was mentioned as a reason, I really DONT care enough to "need" to know, I was more interested in the popes feelings about the meeting, that was quite telling.
But really, anyone thats bothered about hats and scarves, is as silly as me enjoying the hand slaps... a fun distraction of nothing burgers

While trying to make sense of what is REALLY going on, with things like North Korea, the budget, the healthcare bill, terrorism, crime. plus a thousand more important other things...

SO far, the trip has been interesting, not disastrous as an *event*, I give them that.

According to Wiki, she is Catholic. The black dress and veil is part of protocol for personal meetings with the pope. Some that are considered "royals" are allowed to wear white. The current pope has relaxed the dress code stuff.

Status: offline 		Catholicism has lots of protocols, so as it is her personal faith it would not be abnormal for her. If you get to meet the leader of your faith in person, I would think it would be an honour to abide by their rules.
Yes I read the protocol for meeting with the pope. I just hadnt known her religion beforehand.

I've yet to get an answer from the anti-zionist wing in here as to how el presidente is less of a zionist than Clinton, given that his companies are full of jews, both of his daughters have married jews, and one of them has converted to judaism and taken a jewish name for religious purposes (and he kept bloody quiet about that while he was inviting the white supremacists to stuff money down his g-string while he was bumping and grinding on the campaign trail, didn't he?)

Status: offline 		I would think following... or at least respecting... traditions when being welcomed to a foreign land is simply good manners. Covering ones head to accommodate the sensibilities of the people's beliefs is not denigrating to the US but being polite and respectful. It should make no difference if it is Saudi Arabia or the Vatican. The religion of Trump or his wife should not even be considered as he is representing a nation of many religions... Just be polite!

Yea, I disagree with Trump about giving shit to Michelle Obama about not wearing headscarf. And I will not support any necessity for head scarf especially when it's implemented nationwide in a whole country. Dress code for private religious venues, that I have no issues with.

But the point is Liberal media are giving shit to Melania and Ivanka for the double standards of not wearing head scarfs in saudi but choosing to do so in the vatican.

And basically, i am wondering what is the liberal media stances of head scarfs in saudi precisely? I would think they would be pro-not wearing any head scarfs ever in saudi!

Are they also against head scarfs, the dress code as demanded by the pope?

I don't consider Ivanka Jewish.

If she refuse to convert to Judaism. She will be unable to marry her husband. Stupid religious laws.

So she was essentially forced against her will to become a jew so she can be with the man she loves.

Doesn't mean she is a jew at heart. And genuinely wanted to be one. She did it so that she could marry the man she loves. That's all. It's just going through the stupid motions.

It's the same with Islam. If I wanted to marry a Muslim man, I would have to turn Muslim or he will be forbidden to marry me. Just like poor Janet Jackson had to turn Muslim and then forced to walk around in Ninja suit just because she wanted to marry the man she loved.

This whole "forced conversion" through marriage is another area where this whole world needs to banned religions from doing. Like make it illegal already for religions to prevent marriages using compulsory conversion as the penalty of that marriage!
