popeye1250 -> What kind of vehicle do you drive? (7/26/2006 11:30:51 PM)

I just got a new car in May. It's a 2006 Mercury Gran Marquis "LS" model. Loaded, leather seats, power everything, the works. It's a light gray color they call "Stone Mist". I like that "luxury car ride" and it surely fits the bill there, you float over bumps. I get about 20 mpg around town with it and 27 mpg on the highway. I had a 2002 Ford F-150 "King Ranch" four door truck that I traded in. It was "loaded" as well, even had a power moonroof and the color was "Chestnut", a cross between dark brown and maroon. I guess Ford likes fancy names for their colors. The truck was a pig on gas! I was lucky to get 12 mpg around town here and maybe 16 on the highway. It weighed 5,000 lbs and had the 5.4 liter engine with 260 HP. I needed it when I lived in New Hampshire because you need a truck when you live in the country for all kinds of things. They didn't pick up the trash in the town I lived in so everyone had to take it to the dump. When I got my dump sticker/permit at the town hall the lady corrected me; "We don't call it the "Dump" we call it "the recycling center!" I said to her; "Well that's quaint but it SMELLS like "The Dump" to me!" She frowned at me and gave me a sticker! And, I lived in the foothills of the White Mountains so I needed the four wheel drive to get up the hill to my house in the snow. Now that I live in Myrtle Beach I just don't need a truck anymore. I love the car but still miss the truck. So what do you drive and why?
