But the US isn't starving. These are long standing programs.

We're thriving actually.

Nice try. But no.

So long as you ignore the debt, which you do every time it is convenient for you (like this)

And the fact that if interest rates go up significantly we are totally fucked

The debt is unsustainable

Pompous smug ass Obama lectured that President Bush was "unpatriotic" for much less debt than he left for President Trump

Trump's plan is perfect, exactly what we need to crawl out of the massive debt hole Obama created

Cut government waste to the bone, fuel and grow the economy, so the growing tax base can lift everyone and everything

Gosh, then probably creating new structural deficit with greatly expanded military spending and simultaneously cutting revenue was a bad idea.

I'll let Reagan, Bush, and the rest of the GOP know. I'm sure they'll be concerned.

Interestingly enough, national defense and protecting the borders are among the very few legitimate constitutional roles of the federal government

Regulating mud puddles in my pasture, driving health care costs through the roof, and giving certain scientists massive donations from my pocket on account of their leftist ideology etc etc etc aren't

mnottertail -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/5/2017 6:45:06 PM)

interesntingly the federal government has a great deal of legitimate roles, none of them are commies in the whitehouse, nor nutsuckers.

You havent got a pasture, and your bathroom floors where you ply your trade are not regulated too heavily, they allow you in to felchgobble for instance.

Musicmystery -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/5/2017 6:45:18 PM)

Sure. And it all magically pays for itself in your right wing world.

But it doesn't. Hence the structural deficit.

Could the 1% be in debt? If so, to whom do they owe money?

I'm glad you asked that

As for how the wealthy do business, have you ever heard the term "leverage" It means using a little of your money and a lot of others to pull off a deal.
As long as the income from the project exceeds debt service plus expenses, you're making green.
The wealthy rarely pay cash for anything. This is why Mr Trump has been bankrupt several times. He left others holding the bag.

Are you REALLY so ignorant that you didn't know that?

Now that would be a healthy step.

Right. So i can't help but wonder what the reason is they are trying to syphon money to the rich. Hypothetically, is there any plausible possible positive reason?

They're not "siphoning money" to them. It's their money - they are letting them keep more of their own money so they can create jobs with it and grow the economy, for everyone's benefit

Trickle down economics was disproven 35 years ago.
Seriously, if you got a nice raise at work, would you just, out of the goodness of your heart, pay the guy who mows your yard more? Or tell him to bring a friend so you can pay both of them?
See how fucking stupid it sounds?
Time and time again, it has been shown not to work.
Bush I even had a name for it. "Voodoo Economics".

"Trickle down"?

It's just common sense. If a government removes too much money from the economy it's bad.

If you want to decrease any activity, tax it very heavily. Cigarettes, industry...

See also Crazy Uncle Bernie's socialist baby, Venezuela

That he gushed over

Where the people are starving

It's obviously not common sense because you think it works.
History proves that it fails miserably.

As for your stupid-assed obsession with Venezuela, if you would actually take time to think, it is also proof that trickle down economics fails miserably.
A few uber wealthy and everyone else can't even find food. Thanks for proving my point.[:D]

tweakabelle -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/6/2017 6:23:49 AM)

It's amazing how many people still fall for the trickle down fallacy.

Variations of this approach have been implemented in the US, the UK and Australia over the past few decades. Yet it has failed to produce the promised results anywhere. The fact that solutions are still needed for the problems that trickledown is supposed to solve is self evident proof of its failure.

The only tangible results of trickle down has been the massive transfer of wealth from the middle and working classes to the uber rich, as the enormous disparities in wealth between the rich and the poor that have materialised in these countries proves. The rest of society has subsidised the wealthy for decades now and have nothing to show for it but unemployment and poverty.

Yet some poor fools advocate more of the same tired failed-everywhere-it-has-been-tried-approach as a solution to the problems that trickle down approaches have exacerbated. How dumb is that?

Wow... You really think that the situation Venezuela is in, is due to a capitalist government allowing people keep their own money circulating in the economy...

You really believe that

Many of you on the left are insane, seriously. I am thinking that is a strong possibility that most of you are.

Musicmystery -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/6/2017 6:46:48 AM)

sad but amusing

I 100% agree igor2003, who said
A large part of the "government" you are asking about are either part of that 1%, or they get significant contributions from that 1%. The reason for wanting to funnel more money to that top 1% can easily be summed up in just one word. GREED.

Whom of you do understand this?

WickedsDesire -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/6/2017 7:18:13 AM)

Why does boscox keep mentioning Venezuela every few threads?

Venezuela, where you cannot get diapers or toilet paper and the people are literally starving, is Crazy Uncle Bernie's poster child, for how the United States should be run

WickedsDesire -> RE: Trump/GOP: $2.5 trillion for top 1%; $2.5 trillion cuts to poor. (6/6/2017 7:55:20 AM)

But cannot that also be America and the UK regrading your head line....do you think i will not mention the UK when it is an equally bad example.

Ah I remember clicking on that article before although the relevancy of why you keep posting it escapes me- Sanders I actually liked. Hillary nope if you ever wonder I would have voted green I dont believe in tactical voting....i did it once at 18 and learned my lesson ;)

The efficacy of the article ive never looked into

But I doubt he is saying people should go hungry and ill. America and the UK say that.

Doesnt Venezuela have the largest proven oil reserves or am i getting muddled up?

Sandars wrote his essay talking about it being a "poster child" (as you put it) in 2011 while Chavez was president of Venezuela. Chavez died in 2013. That is when Maduro came into office. It was due to Maduro's policies that the Venezuela economy started spiraling out of control. The Venezuela that Sanders mentioned in his essay is not the same Venezuela that appeared after Maduro.

Of course you ALWAYS fail to mention that.

Today's Venezuela (and Maduro) are Chaves' legacy

Just like ISIS and skyrocketing insurance costs ares Obama's legacy
