The President then returned to the topic of Mike Flynn, saying, "He is a good guy and has been through a lot." He repeated that Flynn hadn't done anything wrong on his calls with the Russians, but had misled the Vice President. He then said, "I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go." I replied only that "he is a good guy." (In fact, I had a positive experience dealing with Mike Flynn when he was a colleague as Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency at the beginning of my term at FBI.) I did not say I would "let this go."

That + the firing of Comey = Obstruction of Justice.

Game over.

Well I don't know how American law works. But yea, for a President to ask for special treatment is something you can do in a business world, but not appropriate for politics.

So hey, I support Trump, but he needs to be careful that there are things you can do in business, you can't do as a government.

He needs to learn which are the things you can't bring in from business negotiations.

Trump has been the most incompetent president in history so far, so there's no doubt that it played a role... but I really don't think that incompetence/ignorance is a valid excuse for committing a crime.

Trump has been the most incompetent president in history

The reason why people voted him in is because they want change and they want him to bring the way he runs businesses into politics. They are sick of the normal way politics is run. So alot of these "incompetence" is a result of him doing things the business way instead of proper politics way. Not following protocol for many things.

Which is precisely what the people voted for.

But end of the day, there are also laws.

In my country, we jail people for giving favourtism to certain suppliers for their own private companies. But US may not have similar business laws. Something to do with preventing monopoly or anti-competition.

So if an actual law is broken, then it is the law, and Trump has to deal with it and be held accountable accordingly.

Yes, good... I agree.

People who don't know anything about how to run a country voted for someone who knows as much about how to run a country as they do, and who won't take anyone else's advice.
It makes sense really-- when somebody doesn't know anything about medicine, that's the first person I see when I get sick.

Actually, imagine if you had cancer, and all the chemo is killing you faster instead of healing you, despite all the best medical professionals of your country that is treating you. Wouldn't you then out of desperation seek other voodoo "unofficial" types of solutions ?

I literally know a real friend who is in this exact situation now. And once you are desperate, you are gonna try anything else, anything else but what is not currently working, especially when things are dire.

That is precisely what happened with the American voters. That was a vote of unhappiness and desperation that they are not happy with the way current things are running.

Maybe they could have voted for at least one of the semi-competent people in the Green or Libertarian parties.

Interesting sorta analogy. I think with Trump taking the fangs out of some of these federal jack booted thugs agencies, they might find alternate cancer cures. Really. Places have been shut down despite their success rate, this is known fact all over the place. People have gone to other countries for treatments that are illegal here AND WORKED.

Unfortunately I think Trump likes big pharma enough to keep these innovators down. I have lost a bunch of confidence in him lately and it has nothing to do with him facing off half the world, telling NATO to go fuck off, I support those things. But he is bringing in the filthiest people to his environment, advisors and such, cabinet members. Sure he drained the swamop and then filled it with mud.

If his people were the type to go against the grain I would support it. Even Devos, get those vouchers out there and get your good and intelligent kids the fuck out of that public system which seems to exist to bury them. Teachers leave those kids alone (Pink Floyd)

But the people Trump is appointing is all from the same crowd, and I am disappointed. Well I was disappointed with Obama's "Hope and change" as well. I guess that is what we need to expect from the government, nothing.

It is how it is because they like it how it is, get that through your fucking head first, and then we can talk.

And have 0.00000001 % chance of winning.

Good advice, for a loser.

It's just 4 years. Your country will be okay. People have to try different things to know what works and what does not work.

How Trump performs will determine whether we'd see a Kanye West, Oprah or Rock Presidency!

Too bad Arnold Schwarzenegger was not born in the USA, or else I bet he would have ran.

For me, it's only been like, what? 4 or 5 months! I give him one year to familiarize himself with how things work, and then the next 3 years really figuring out how to get his results. So I expect him to trip and learn along the way now. It's a steep learning curve. He is inexperienced.

Anyone who understands what Trump is while also having respect for themselves or their country would not have voted for someone like Trump.
They have embarrassed their country and embarrassed themselves.

Maybe the other parties lost, but at the very least they didn't run someone like Trump.
That is a point of pride for them.

The difference between those other celebrities and Trump is that I honestly think they would listen more and make a real attempt to learn how to do the job without embarrassing themselves.
Trump isn't doing that.

Well the other celebrities except for Kanye, are in the entertainment business. Oprah is a talk host, needs to be likable, knows how to be PR.

Arnold and Rock, both actors, also know they need to keep humble in the industry to keep getting jobs.

Arnold especially a foreigner trying to penetrate the American market, and then later run for Governor. Because he is not American, he needs to go on a different tact.

Kanye is a rich Musician who can be an asshole and makes money out of that.

And Trump is a businessman who can be an asshole, and still makes money out of that.

You don't understand that you are describing the conversation between two law enforcement officers, with one being the other's superior, discussing a case that is before them. Neither are you a lawyer, though you play one (and a bad one) on collarchat

The observation that "Flynn hasn't done anything wrong" flows perfectly with the statement suggesting (not demanding) that the matter be dropped

The conversation did not involve wrongdoing on the part of the president, who Comey has said repeatedly was never under investigation

It is simply two law enforcement officers, two top prosecutors if you will, discussing a case

Except that we already know, at the very least, Flynn failed to report his associations with Turkey and Russia, in violation of the law. So yes, even entering the investigation, he has done something wrong.

I obviously need to use smaller words

Try this: No, because he is the boss of the investigation

(What's a smaller word for investigation...)
