Even the New York Times has to admit that Hollyweird elites have made this the most expensive loss "liberals" have ever had in a congressional race

You can hear the progressives just stop and wonder. They hav no clue. Sure it wasn't a 10 or 12 point win, but all of that California money down a rat hole.

BoscoX -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 8:38:17 PM)

Coincidentally, a week ago all the polls showed Handel losing too

Where have we seen that before [;)]

Last night they had him running 2 points ahead.
Not only did they get that wrong but he got 2% less than they gave him, there were enough undecided that if she picked up all of them she could have won but she seems to have gotten them but some of his.

The Dem campaigned a a moderate. Tried to tell dems he'd be moderate. Of course when he'd have gotten to Washington he'd vote just how Nancy Pelosi told him to vote. Nancy, of course, being the fount from which all of the California money came from. The funny thing is, as bad as the repubs are, their problem is that they are all voting their conscience...or the individual money paid to them. The Dems are all controlled by the machine. The scattered repub vote is because the political machine doesn't control them.

Dems give lip service and bow to the machine. Sure we have to throw out some repubs, but the whole dem crowd is with the machine. Not one is bucking the system.

BoscoX -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:01:43 PM)

There are no moderate Dems. What he did, was wear a Republican mask

servantforuse -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:10:25 PM)

This election is very bad news for the democrats. The 2018 elections will be a disaster for them.

Greta75 -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:11:29 PM)

Wow, a woman won! Field by the Right and not the Left. Awesome!

And by Merit too, with everything stacked against her.

Good job!

servantforuse -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:24:25 PM)

The liberals out spent her in the millions. Didn't make a difference.

heavyblinker -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:36:07 PM)

I hope that the Democrats finally realize that they need to move further left, and embrace European-style social democracy.

I don't think America is ready for it.

Dont get cocky, but we can hope.

heavyblinker -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 9:44:08 PM)

It would of course be an Americanized version of it, but I can't imagine the majority being unhappy with things like universal health care, college for all and higher salaries all around.

The reason they will be unhappy is because they don't like to be force to pay higher taxes for it.

US tax is already super high considering they don't have any such things. For them to afford such things. As Mr Bernie calculated, he was even thinking of taxing 90% to the top 1% to afford all that he proposed.

So I don't think this is feasible. The top 1% also probably is responsible for providing most of the jobs to the US people. Tax them very high, they move. And take jobs out of the country.

Basically US cannot become social left because, they are responsible for so many world problems and already spend most of their money on other country's problems but not their own. So already high tax to pay for all this crap. Now to sponsor so many things within their country on top of whatever they are contributing to the world.

It's gonna be some insanity level high tax, worst than Europe.

heavyblinker -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/20/2017 10:35:06 PM)

If it's a goods and services tax like in Canada, then they can choose to buy less to avoid paying too much tax.
It's also not like they aren't getting their money's worth-- I know that some people on here can't understand this, but I hope the majority isn't so stupid.

And where do you think the corporations are going to go?

MrRodgers -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/21/2017 12:11:06 AM)

Well this was a cliffhanger for the repubs. It is after all a repub district drawn by the repubs looking like it could have come out of a Rorschach ink blot test which of course means they picked the repub voters, and avoided the dem voters, so they just knew, the voters...would pick them. It wasn't supposed to be this close. The repubs have had this for a very long time.

Romney won there in a landslide
McCain won there in a landslide
Trump won by a whisker and what mainly fed the dem's hopes.

Don't forget, this was a runoff that the dem first won by 2 points. From what I';ve seen too, the repubs spent $16 million the dems $14 million as of June '17.

The corp. has no loyalty (no country, no flag) all they have is expenses and taxes and most have already gone.

Dvr22999874 -> RE: HANDEL WINS (6/21/2017 12:40:09 AM)

How does one go about buying less than one needs though heavyblinker. We have a GST here too and much as there was a fuss kicked up about it before it was introduced, it's well accepted now. It seems to work

You do realise America foreign and military spending is higher than any other countries right? So it will not be budgeted like Canada, their tax to cover free college and medical may exceed Canada and Europe rates. They are in trillions of debt without giving free medical and college now. They are already not collecting enough taxes.

Most probably to my part of the world. English speaking country and good infrastructure. Cheap Taxes and secure and stable. And it's negotiable with the government to make special allowances for certain companies. I know Shell and Exxon has gotten special treatment for setting up oil refineries here. Whatever they demanded, our government approve it specially for them, they can negotiate lower taxes and more lenient foreign worker quotas. We might have got a flexibility to lure businesses to relocate here that US may not have.

America turn socialist. I am sure my country will be one of the places to benefit from these companies relocation. We would take the opportunity to court them and custom-make a deal to suit them.

Our government is very active in courting foreign investors and companies. To keep jobs plentiful and striving here. As a country with no natural resources, we need to continue to simply make our city most attractive in the region for companies to set up base here.

Like the Democrats you don't understand they are too far to the left already.
