Any quota is by definition discrimination
never mind that the issue isnt simply one of comparing race by numbers but rather by academic achievement.
if Asians make up only 5% of the population but are limited to only 20% of the college population, its also discrimination if they actually make up a higher percentage of the top academic achievers prior to applying.
in a way, its delimiting smart kids simply because of their ethnicity.
im sure the Asian kid who would have been the person putting the college percentage of Asian at 20.5%, but didn't get accepted because of that, takes some solace in knowing that his fellow Asians got into the school of their choice and he did not, because as an ethnic group, they are well represented. righhhhhhhhhhhhht.
