he's a politician...they ALLLLLLLL lie, hence the reason i don't vote...besides...it's rigged anyway.

peterK50 -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 9:05:00 AM)

With an entire "news" network & political apparatus behind him there is only one reason. He can get away with it.

Lashra -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 9:12:17 AM)

Because he knows nothing will happen if he is caught. ALL politicians lie to a degree, but Bush has learned he will get whatever it is he wants. I mean why wouldn't he? No one has stopped him so far. He wants what he wants and will do whatever it takes to get it regardless to how it destroys our country. I still think one of his daughters should be sent to Iraq to fight for our country, I mean other people's daughters are over there doing it, why not his?

Egomaniac sums up pretty well

Ain't no why.  He will do what will further his agenda.  It is convienient to present facts (or fiction) in ways that are appealing to him, or appealing to his target audience.

Truth plays no part in this.

My Sir has one statement for this....

"If any man of average means was in charge of the funds that are now missing from America and their bank account got as big as Bush and his puppet masters' with all of the deaths that occured to achieve this transfer of funds, he would be arrested and tried for what we in America call "Capital Murder".  However, if your father and his cronies have been setting things up forever, you might just call him "President"  and let him have a free ride. (Shame on those of you who are so easily steered from the truth by way of your own lust for profit.  I'll earn mine the old fashioned way, thank you)  Have a good day"

You mean Congress, the Senate, and the Supreme Court... where conservatives  hold the majority?   This is why Bush has not been held accountable for his lies... Yet.

Bush had an agenda.... conquer Saddam, 'Republicanize' Jesus Christ to support his religious ideals, and line his family's big oil pockets.  He has thus far been very successful.

If he told the truth he would be assassinated.

smilezz -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 9:34:41 AM)

Because he can get away with it and there is not a damn thing anyone can or will do about it.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 9:37:08 AM)

the Presidency, as everyone knows, is open to the highest bidder...wonder who paid for this latest jerk.

juliaoceania -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 9:46:49 AM)

How can I tell if he would lie when half of what comes out of his pie hole is unintelligible drivel, his speeches remind me of this Dilbert site and its mission statement generator. Try it a couple of times and you will see what I mean http://www.dilbert.com/comics/dilbert/games/career/bin/ms.cgi

Lashra...we aren't under a draft. Those whose daughters are over there went voluntarily...along with everyone else who is there. We shouldn't "send" anyone.

michaelGA2 -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 10:04:00 AM)

the job was bungled and we should have stopped when we didn't get it done...now it's just a political ploy to keep things stirred up and make Bush look good.

No we aren't but I think he should experience the worry as other parents are doing. I think if he had a personal taste of the hell he is causing maybe reality would hit him in the forehead.
No not under the draft...YET. I can guarantee you his kids would never volunteer nor go if drafted.

I'm not going to get into my personal opinion of "the hell he is causing". You stated that his daughters should be "sent" there. That, in my opinion, is a pretty strong statement.

We don't have a draft and I think that we lose sight of the fact that all those who are serving over there are there because they voluntarily signed their name on that dotted line. As adults, they made that choice...that decision. There is a responsibility in making that decision that rests squarely on their shoulders.

If you don't want to go to war....don't raise your hand and say "pick me". Don't sign your John Hancock on that line. When you become a soldier, there is a good chance that you might have to actually fight. If that is not acceptable to you then don't volunteer.

Personally, I am very proud of those who are there...but I would not wish it to come down to forcing people to be there.

NorthernGent -> RE: Why would Bush Lie? (7/27/2006 10:27:56 AM)

westside,

A point of view:

Bush, like Blair, will lie because, if he called it as it is and said "we are more than happy to send our troops to far off parts of the world to slaughter them for economic gain" it wouldn't go down particularly well. Hence, they use smoke screens such as WMDs in the knowledge that a significant proportion of the population will be completely fooled by the propaganda and thus they gain tolerance or support for their policies.

It goes without saying that business plays a significant role in politics - for example, over here, our traditionally left-wing party has been caught red-handed taking bribes from businessmen in return for favour - when this happens to your left-wing party you know business has an iron grip on politics. Where business has such a grip on politics there is no real option but to follow their lead and as the whole essence of business is to increase the wealth of shareholders they have no real concern for social issues and will consequently demand from those subservient to them (i.e. politicians) that they say anything to anyone to achieve this wealth/economic gain - including lies.

Regards

Certainly having the Bush girls volenteer, would go a long way to generate confidence in our president and government. For that matter there's all KINDS of things that would generate confidence, that aren't happening. I think it relates to our discussions of D/S that it's very difficult to follow/serve some one you don't respect.

Erin:

The point is that one presumes that while Bush may squander taxpayer money, good will for the U.S. and what was left of an only barely coherent foreign policy; he would not be so callous with the lives of his own daughters. On a certain level it would be interesting to support a draft that allowed for no exceptions to the lottery - you get picked, you go. I think the war in Iraq would then wrap up pretty quickly. Otherwise Bush would be sacrificing his own blood for the benefit of Koch Industries - then again, maybe Bush has a price for that.
