I was thinking the exact same thing and have said it before---the only totalitarian-like behavior I see these days comes from the comrades.

the "marching boots of fascism??"

voting booths being limited??

scarce abortion clinics? (the incredible irony lost on them there no doubt)

do you ever look the left and wonder what the heck are they looking at such that they can say things like what you responded to?

More and more people are coming to the honest conclusion that the left have collectively lost their fucking minds. Many people use the same sort of description for their behavior that I have been using, that they live in cartoonish alternate realities

And nothing can reach them. No facts, no realities. They can justify anything, stretch any nothing into the crime of the century... And they seem to think this is working for them somehow

Don't you find it a bit spooky that pretty much the entire world says exactly the same of Trump and his supporters?

In addition, queers were subject to police harassment, physical attacks by gangs of 'queer bashers' who invariably went unpunished, and from time to time, murder. . . .

So queers were forced to live their lives in the shadows, living in dread of exposure, imprisonment and ostracism. The queer rights movements that began after Stonewall in the late 1960s reversed all that.

Well thank goodness.

How did we ever lose that wonderful term? I'm glad somebody else has held onto it.

I always liked the designation because in the first place, "queer" said "different," which always attracted me, since I was 'different' even if not attracted to males. In fact, I'm about as hyper-heterosexual as they come.

I'm tired of having to distinguish between 'gay' and 'lesbian' all the time. Why can't we just do like in the good old days, say "queer" and be done with it?

To tamaka;

I don't know where you came upon the notion that all queers (OK, 'homosexuals') are unhappy with their congenital inclination. I've met plenty of homosexuals in r/l who quite obviously have no issue with it at all. My former career was in show business, so I'm sure I've come across more 'queers' than most people, but even still, the two guys across the hall from me and the lesbian in the next hall, none in show-biz, don't display or convey any "issues" about it at all. The lesbian emailed me a most wonderful account of my brother's (who being also my neighbor) many good deeds to her and other's benefit after I informed her of his passing, which letter I passed on to the rest of the family. Tears and sniffles.

Perhaps you were thinking of queers' getting tired and annoyed at all the grief and retribution and antagonization they've gotten for just being who they were. That's not the same as being sorry for who they were.

I'm being honest.

From everything i've ever read, gays wish that they weren't gay.

That is because you read anti gay literature...consequently you find what you want to find.

It seems clear that A'ness isn't aware of the privileged position of the Orthodox Church in Putin's Russia. This 'news' is only about two decades old:

"And while much attention has been paid to the growing authoritarianism of the Kremlin and on the support for Putin's regime on the part of the Russian oligarchs whom Putin has enriched through his crony capitalism, little has been paid to the equally critical role of the Russian Orthodox Church in helping to shape Russia's current system, and in supporting Putin's regime and publicly conflating the mission of the Russian state under Vladimir Putin's leadership with the mission of the Church. Putin's move in close coordination with the Russian Orthodox Church to sacralize the Russian national identity has been a key factor shaping the increasingly authoritarian bent of the Russian government under Putin, and strengthening his public support, and must be understood in order to understand Russia's international behavior.

The close relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) and the Russian state based upon a shared, theologically-informed vision of Russian exceptionalism is not a new phenomenon. During the days of the Czar, the Russian ruler was seen as God's chosen ruler of a Russian nation tasked with representing a unique set of value embodied by Russian Orthodoxy, and was revered as “the Holy Orthodox Czar”. Today, a not dissimilar vision of Russian exceptionalism is once again shared by the ROC and the Kremlin, and many Russians are beginning to see Vladimir Putin in a similar vein – a perception encouraged both by Putin and by the Church, each of which sees the other as a valuable political ally and sees their respective missions as being interrelated.

I wouldn't participate in a gay rights parade because I am still in the camp of believing that sexual orientation is a fetish. All fetishes are naturally occurring at birth. You are either into it or not. So if you are into the same gender, sure, it's just a sexual orientation, a sexual fetish. If you are Bi, it's also just a sexual fetish.

I am still not convinced this has nothing to do with sex.

Because what's the difference between BFF of the same gender to lovers of the same gender? Sex right? What else is different?

So they are fighting for the right to marriage, and I still strongly believe, marriage should be between a man and a woman only.

And children should have one father and one mother. Not 2 mothers or 2 fathers.

I am not convinced that having 2 fathers or 2 mothers is far superior for the child than the child being raised with one father and one mother. Not convinced that is in the best interest of the child.

And for all that, I don't care who people fuck and what they do with their sex lives. But I just can't over why they need marriage?

But I will support any change of law, for any human being to be able to nominate a significant other. This could be any gender, to be like the decision maker for everything. I mean if they get into coma or whatever. I feel this is the crux of why gay people feel they need marriage. Specifically for this point. That's the only thing. From everything that I understood, it is still not legal to be the decision maker for your significant other IF your significant other is incapacitated, unless you are that person's spouse. I think this part needs to change. This should have nothing to do with marriage. Like even if I was married. I may want my brother to be my decision maker, and not my husband.

Yes. As the final sentence of my post illustrates, his childish insults, delivered from a pathologically deluded and completely baseless assumption of superiority, are best suited to describing his own shortcomings. With this in mind, his posts are the nearest thing I can think of to the cyber equivalent of talking to a mirror and pompously and gratuitously insulting oneself.

Utterly moronic. Taking cretinous to a new level.

Your ad hominem just makes you look childish. You know, sometimes, you post in this forum like a 15 yr old bratty child, but I guess you can take that as a compliment, since for women, being called youthful is not even really a bad thing.

You can always regress, and refusing to believe that it's possible makes it a lot easier for those who want to wind the clock back a few decades to do so.

Yes well, those people are becoming less and less. Most people have at least one loved one who is bi or gay and once it affects your loved ones, you tend to become more open-minded.

Sorry, but I'm with WM on this one. I happen to be of the opinion that any law we write or any decision that comes down from the Supreme Court can always be reversed. Case law isn't about public opinion. It's all about precedent.

Well maybe we have to determine whether this is legitimately a real thing and a real status or whether this is somehow a threat to the overall system on which humanity is based.

What threat do you feel is over you?

Allow me to assure you. Whatever fears you have, you're not going to catch teh gay, or the HIV, or anything else you've got going on in your head. If it did, I'd be dead.

I might find it spooky if I believed the ENTIRE world was saying that, but I know better. And while I am aware that there are people in other countries who do not like us or our leaders, that has pretty much been the case for as long as I can remember so not really big news.

I guess they never realized the bullshit they were making you go through in order to feel better about themselves, those bastards.
