Double post

I definitely think he can win in 2020.
He was already an absolute disgrace and people still voted for him.

If he was acceptable in 2016, then he will still be acceptable after 4 years of agonizing incompetence.
The only hope is if the Democrats find someone capable of treating the voters with the lack of respect they apparently crave.

None of your fake news "points" are real

They are all literally made up fantasy

Other presidents have been far more vulgar, despite your cartoonish delusions. LBJ was a blatant racist for example...

No talks were "sabotaged"

And so on

Loser fools like you will believe literally anything that is handed to you no matter how outlandish, so long as it is anti-Trump

You have such lack.

Hard to believe you buggers invented the language. Chalk and cheese sometimes.

A scandinavian I was at university compared the relationship between English and the other Germanic languages as that between free jazz and R&B (the forties stuff with a flashy quintet or sextet section showing off over a slick rhythm section and an excitable pianist, rather than the post motown harmony vocal stuff the term's now used to describe), which is a metaphor I've always liked. Perhaps if the Queen's English is free jazz that would make the American version a less difficult form of jazz like the old fashioned big band stuff, or even ragtime instead?

Of maybe it's just rife with quirky idioms.

The linguistic equivalent of harmolodics, sport.
(I think it's the sheer number of exceptions to any given grammatical rule that bothers people whose first language is based on Latin more than idioms.)

Musicmystery -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/29/2017 8:20:34 AM)

That's the poorest analogy I've seen since reading student papers.

WickedsDesire -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/29/2017 8:26:16 AM)

Rather than start a new thread and Musicmystery ones seems apt ;) Mental Retardation of Chaos is having yet another twitter melt down

If the Senate Democrats ever got the chance, they would switch to a 51 majority vote in first minute. They are laughing at R's. MAKE CHANGE!
4:47 am - 29 Jul 2017

....8 Dems totally control the U.S. Senate. Many great Republican bills will never pass, like Kate's Law and complete Healthcare. Get smart!
4:39 am - 29 Jul 2017

Republicans in the Senate will NEVER win if they don't go to a 51 vote majority NOW. They look like fools and are just wasting time......
4:32 am - 29 Jul 2017

The very outdated filibuster rule must go. Budget reconciliation is killing R's in Senate. Mitch M, go to 51 Votes NOW and WIN. IT'S TIME!
4:28 am - 29 Jul 2017

Republican Senate must get rid of 60 vote NOW! It is killing the R Party, allows 8 Dems to control country. 200 Bills sit in Senate. A JOKE!
4:20 am - 29 Jul 2017

Hasn't he already had the same rant this week on twitter? And more than once this year.

WhoreMods -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/29/2017 8:28:14 AM)

Was he tweeting complaints about the republicans controlling the senate to block legislation when there was a democrat president in the white house for eight years?

Yep - probably a reflection on the majority of the adult pop. 27% who voted for that. Thing is that could have been Hitler up there and he would have accrued about the exact same % of the votes

So much for the family values party and for the importance of character in a president.

Character is important to the republicans though: the less their president has, the happier they are.

tweakabelle -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/30/2017 5:42:43 AM)

I am not sure that Americans fully appreciate the extent that the USA's international status and reputation have suffered under the Trump regime. While the chaos in the White House must be disconcerting to Americans, it is having grave, potentially perilous effects across the globe as the rest of the world struggles to make sense of the turmoil enveloping the Trump Administration.

Perhaps this editorial in the Guardian might open a few eyes. Editorials are usually understated cautious and reserved, a million miles removed from the openly contemptuous tone displayed here. Here are the concluding paragraphs:
"Merkel suggested earlier this year that the US (and Britain) could no longer be wholly relied upon. While not entirely true, for instance in the case of Anglo-American security guarantees for Germany and its sheltered exporters, it was plain what she meant. And this lesson has been understood by America’s enemies, too. In provocatively firing off another long-range, possibly nuclear-capable missile last week, North Korea seems to be testing how far it can go, geographically and politically. It is counting on Trump proving to be the blowhard that, until now, he has appeared to be.

Recent months have produced a litany of Trump threats and boasts over North Korea. There was no way, he said, that Pyongyang would deploy an ICBM capable of hitting the mainland US. “It’s not going to happen,” he tweeted. Wrong again, Donald. It did. By conducting its own satellite launch last week, ignoring western concerns, Iran has similarly thumbed its nose at Washington. Iran’s leaders should understand there would be “very serious” consequences if they pursued their ballistic missile programme, Trump had warned. Additional hints from Rex Tillerson, US secretary of state, and Jim Mattis, Pentagon chief, about regime change in Iran further darkened the strategic horizon. But guess what? Tehran took no notice at all. It went ahead anyway.

Or take Russia. Having played Trump to its advantage, Moscow’s open hand is turning into a clenched fist as it threatens reprisals over a new Congressional sanctions package. It was not hard to see this tactical switch coming, once it was clear Trump could not deliver the sort of concessions on Ukraine Putin craves. Except, in his fecklessness and blind vanity and courting Putin to the end, Trump didn’t see it coming at all. You can almost see Putin’s lip curl.

The common factor in all these situations is Trump’s self-induced powerlessness and ignorance, his chronic lack of credibility and presidential authority and consequent perceptions of US and western weakness. And in the case of all three actual or potential adversaries – North Korea, Iran and Russia – these perceptions are highly dangerous. Precisely because US responses, actions and reactions can no longer be relied upon or predicted, by friends and enemies alike, the potential for calamitous miscalculation is growing. This uncertainty, like the chaos in the White House and the extraordinary disarray of the American body politic, stems from Trump’s glaring unfitness for the highest office. As is now becoming ever plainer, this threatens us all."

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/jul/30/observer-view-of-donald-trump-unifit-for-office

The full editorial is well worth reading. The Trump induced chaos isn't a purely US concern, it is having grave consequences across the planet. No one trusts the word of the US President. No one is rattled by or even takes his threats seriously. The US's adversaries - Nth Korea, Iran and Russia - are by their actions demonstrating that they have no fear of the Trump Presidency as they rush into to fill the vacuum created by Trump's catastrophic leadership.

Trump is so obviously not making America Great Again - he is turning the US into an object of global derision.

True, but I don't get the impression that they're the base of the party at this point.

Trump's criticisms of Sessions seems to have opened a few fissures on the Right.

Breitbart has sided with Sessions and even some Fox talking heads are accused Trump of "humiliating" his A-G. There is talk that the 'white nationalist' faction, led by the odious Bannon are about to go the way of Flynn, Spicer and all the other casualties of the orange disaster's short reign.

Whatever else you say about Trump's comedy show at the White House, there's never a dull moment!

Musicmystery -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/30/2017 11:38:27 AM)

Yeah, going to war with the press and the intelligence agencies and letting his White House devolve into factions was setting himself up badly enough.

But going to war with the GOP Senate is really courting trouble.

Let's not dignify it unduly.
This isn't "war", it's an infantile tantrum. Not quite the same thing, even as a metaphor.

Musicmystery -> RE: President Trump, Melting Under Criticism (7/30/2017 1:08:57 PM)

Fine. You go with semantics; I'll go with "it's a stupid thing to do, whatever you decide to label it."
