Musicmystery -> Declaration of Independence Tweets thought call to revolution. (7/5/2017 9:01:59 AM)

NPR Tweeted the entire Declaration of Independence. Sharing the document, in some form, on July 4th is something the organization has done for almost three decades. This time around though it caused a frenzy for lots of Trump supporters who thought the words, in the tweets, were created to use against Donald Trump.

As the Huffington Post reports:
"They didn’t recognize the words and thought NPR was calling for revolution."

Some supporters of President Donald Trump didn’t recognize one of the nation’s founding documents and accused the broadcaster of inciting violence and even revolution.

Many of those comments have since been deleted and at least one user deleted an entire Twitter account.

But the tweets live on, some still posted online while others have been preserved in screen captures.

Here are some of those tweets and the reactions to them:

I do not understand this culture's fascination with Twitter. Nor why NPR would want to tweet.

But I understand the stupidity and stubborn arrogance of many Americans even less.

I was once proud of this country. And it's still and will remain my home.

But it can't find its ass with both hands.

Astoundingly, however, a new survey of a representative sample of over a thousand Americans conducted by Columbia Law School shows that Marx's slogan is alive and well--right here in the United States. The survey found that sixty-nine percent of respondents either thought that the United States Constitution contained Marx's maxim, or did not know whether or not it did.

It almost like the schools should stop teaching about putting condom on bananas and get back to teaching substantive things. Maybe vouchers will help.

Bin of many loons is calling you

But no doubt you will not explain to us all what the declaration of independence has to do with Venezuela and North Korea?

You truly are a tit

Why would somebody who wants to live in a regime run by a narcissistic autocrat who can't take criticism need to move to a country where they'd have to learn a new language?

The snivelling little shit who lurks in his mums basement, avoids me you know - he actually thinks he can, and has taken you many a time - as he furiously laps at the orange jobbies

Anyway...oh furore is a good word.

Are you saying that he can't be somehow removed from office via some type of impeachment process?

I'll believe it when it happens. Nixon wasn't, after all.

Musicmystery -> RE: Declaration of Independence Tweets thought call to revolution. (7/5/2017 7:08:29 PM)

Kennedy was quickly removed from office. So were McKinley and Lincoln. It happens.

They look around and all they see is the footprint of history repeating itself.

The declaration of independence has been calling out for the people to go to war well over 150 years. After all terrorists wrote it.

Aaand,

you're going to be the first one out there facing the Halliburton/ExxonMobile army and their advanced artillery and their M1 tanks and their F-15 fighter jets with your pop gun, right?

Tamaka was referring to imepeachment rather than getting shot, though. (And you're forgetting Garfield, or does he not count because he was killed by incompetent surgeons rather than the shooting they were trying to patch up?)

This is where you miss the point.

THEY WILL NOT USE IT. If they try the military might simply refuse.

These are voters, and they need votes. You start killing people's Aunts and Uncles here, you are not likely to get reelected. What's more you run the risk of causing a major insurrection.

Do you really think they are going to bomb Chicago ?

For them to use the military against us they are going to need boots on the ground. They have to save the taxpayers and voters. And if you think Jews are the only ones who "never forget" you got another thing coming. In fact if an insurrection happens, we might get help from other countries who are sick of this government's shit.

Go ahead and do it motherfuckers. Bomb all the cities. Then you govern nobody. Let's see where that gets you.

T^T

This is funny and very typical of the fanatic right wing...but... I will admit it has been a long time since I read the full text of the Declaration. However...before I would open my mouth and stick my foot in it I would sure find out where the text came from and in what context it was used.

Palestine doesn't have a government, and I doubt the Iranians will be keen unless you hand over Ford and Carter to be decapitated.
