Why Canada Is Able to Do Things Better

"The United States is falling apart because—unlike Canada and other wealthy countries—the American public sector simply doesn’t have the funds required to keep the nation stitched together. A country where impoverished citizens rely on crowdfunding to finance medical operations isn’t a country that can protect the health of its citizens. A country that can’t ensure the daily operation of Penn Station isn’t a country that can prevent transportation gridlock. A country that contracts out the operations of prisons to the lowest private bidder isn’t a country that can rehabilitate its criminals."

You are constantly preaching about how much you hate America and 'stupid" Americans

Canada is calling your name

Or, Bernie Sanders said that Venezuela is ideal too

Nope. Wrong again.

i am, however, interested in different takes, and in how we might do things better.

That's what distinguishes me from the GOP Congress.

Don't get me started on the private sector - Mad Thatcher stared that over here...I think
in the UK:
Blue = Right
Red = Left
Not sure we have a cock womble orange - lib dems orange or yellow? whoever the fuk those guys are again.
Handsome SNP a screaming yellow
Greens - self explanatory really

Bottom line and greed and gluttony - there... I will start with all of that and leave it open, a little vague, for the now

Which is in essence means the Americanshire jackals have no balance - not that we are getting much better.

Which country has the most billionaires?
World Rank Country Number of Billionaires (2017)
1 United States 565
2 China 319
3 Germany 114
4 India 101

(America has the most millionaire households according to Boston Consulting Group's latest global wealth report, which found that the total number of millionaire households reached 13.8m across the world last year. 1. America - 5.9m millionaire households)

I disagree with the writer's last sentence.. ("But it works for Canada. And it’d work for America too.").. Yes, it works for Canada but it will not work for America... Americans have a different mentality, especially when it comes to taxes.. I have read comments from Americans on how much tax Canadians pay & to them, the tax cost is too high even tho health care is included in it.. (actually, they laugh about the high taxes and & think Canadians are suckers) and too, American politicians spend tax dollars unwisely, which adds to the resistance Americans have to paying more taxes/fees/etc.. They simply dont trust their govt, at all levels.. so no, it won't work in America..

I dont like articles like this, the writers are deluded when they think things like that can work here and Americans certainly dont want to hear that another country is doing better than they are..

Be careful. You're about to be attacked for those statements. I've said almost all of those same statements (not verbatim; I'm less eloquent than most here), and been attacked for it.

To a certain extent there is truth here. Leftists shit in their food, spend gobs of taxpayer money (trillions and trillions) irresponsibly, actually in ways that are counterproductive because they foster dependence on government handouts for example, then wonder why there is resistance to higher taxes or taxes clumsily disguised as efforts to save the planet etc

2. Canada — 89.49. For such a huge nation, Canada only has 35 million citizens, and they are some of the best looked after in the world. Canada's healthcare is what stands it above the rest. Education and opportunity in the country are also impressively strong.

9. United Kingdom — 88.58. The NHS is big part of the UK's high placing, with "basic medical care" scoring almost 100% on the report. Education scores almost as highly, with free access to quality schools.

19. United States — 84.62. The US scraping into the top 20 may surprise some, and the report does call it a "disappointment," saying the country's huge economy does not translate into social progress for many of its citizens.

Difficult to measure but the USA rarely features in the top 10, indeed 20, of highest standard of life, living etc They are a lost people.

You Americans are fuking idiots when it comes to understanding tax dollars - greed, gluttony, misinformation, etc, blinds you

Canada isnt perfect or utopia, it has flaws & its own problems but I have lived in both countries and seen the differences, pros & cons, seen how both systems work, heard what Americans think (especially about how bad Canadian health care is ).. so this is the conclusion I have come to.. the US really has so much potential but it seems you/your govt keep shooting yourselves in the foot.. The only real solution is to have a bloody revolution and scrap your entire political system, start over with a new political system that truly is "for the people, by the people" and not for/by lobbyists, big corps, the 1% & corrupt politicians.. but I dont ever see that happening.. you will just keep going down the path you are on now.. It's gonna be interesting to see how 8 years of Trump affects the US.. and yes, I do believe he will be Prez for 2 full terms..

I certainly hope it doesn't come down to a bloody revolution. That would be an absolutely horrible event, and I'm not even sure there would be much of a "United States" left. There would be one, but it wouldn't be as large, and there would be many states that would go off on their own (likely states like California and Texas come to mind). If we had stuck with a conservative interpretation of the US Constitution, I think we'd still have a government that was "for the people, by the people." But, if Lincoln is any sort of precedent, a revolution would be a bloodbath, and depending on how many in the military defect, a revolution very well might not even be enough to clear the slate.

I think that all depends on how well the GOP can coalesce and back him. The Democrats are going to oppose him more than not. I can't see them being much more supportive of Trump than the GOP was of Obama. If Trump and the GOP can't come together, there will be gridlock and Trump won't win a second term. If things are bad enough, he might not even win the GOP nomination.

Too much trouble, and an awful lot of people are making very good livings from the fucked up joke of a political system.

Because (imo) not enough people feel enough pain yet.. its like anyone who hasn't hit bottom yet, the pain of not changing isn't great enough to endure the pain of change.. most just shrug and say "this is the way it is" and accept it, hold their nose & vote for whoever they think will do the least damage to their present lifestyle.. and keep pushing the consequences down the road to their kids/grand kids/great grand kids..

Whoremods and tj444

They are so far deluded and long gone they do not believe they have to change. I will keep that abrupt as that embodies the essence of most of them - why confuse them to visit the realms they could not possibly understand let alone grasp

Do you two see it any other way, when you drill down?

no, I dont think there will be a revolution but the US will remain a country deeply divided and fighting with itself, tug of war between the Rs & the Ds,.. and quite frankly, that isnt a good situation either, as we have seen from the last few Presidents... it doesnt matter who is in power/control.. the people are fucked either way.. with each mistake made by the govt, it will continue to cost & increase taxes, fees, & other ways the govt can get its grubby paws on your money.. the next financial crisis/bail out is just around the corner.. Look what happened in Cyprus when the govt stole/seized bank accounts (over a certain amount), that very well could happen here too..
