Do some research on genetics. To interbreed they must be genetically related.

All the creatures and plants are genetically related. Not that I think you can breed with a potato. (And I do not want to know about any efforts.)

To interbreed you tend to need to stay in the same Genus, not necessarily Species. Hence we can have ligers! Different species, yet same genus (Panthera).

Now to the article - nothing really new there. There were several Homo species running around a long time ago. Apparently they screwed like rabbits. H. Sapiens won out in the end. Despite Tweaks protestations to the contrary, modern humans have phenotype differences - we often hear the term "race" used to describe this. Ethnic origin, would be a better term than race, but it is an unclear term to most users.

Now the picture on the article - the monkey profile behind the sunset - that seems interesting. In the US we have become very very sensitive to any link in any way being made between any human from Africa and a monkey. (Hence monkey/ape jokes about Bush were fine and monkey/ape jokes about Obama were not fine.) So, I think it is a good question to ask about the "PC" of this article.

In fact, the PC question is so apparent, that 4 pages have been spent trying to shut the conversation down.
