It's not extortion. It's competition. Maybe you should talk to the people that live in the area where this will be built, they are very happy to say the least. This will be a huge boon for that part of WI.

Never ceases to amaze me how quickly and easily people who hate govt. have all of the problems with govt. spending too much almost everywhere, not spending enough on the military even though it gets over $600 billion a year.

Then for on big one, refuse the whole idea of collectively paying for health care yet.....

.....it's just ok for govt. to take taxpayer's money from other needs and services to force the people (taxpayers) to collectively purchase (bribe) the investor class to bring or keep jobs and to pay to do what the marketplace is supposed to do...all on its own.

That's an indicator of having no ideology at all...just do and pay for whatever businesses and govt. want except for all of the waste and fraud brought on welfare and food stamps etc. Better that money go to the investor class too.

Never mind the waste and fraud inherent in socializing businesses and the jobs that are to come...without tax money.

The only competition here is what we see between jurisdictions trying to outbid each other to get those jobs. And why, so they...can tax those workers too. Must be a rich area to be able to afford $1 million per job.

Well I do prefer cats as opposed to 13 year old pussies eh! It's not like I am the President of oh America - I totally randomly picked that for legal purposes

servantforuse -> RE: Foxconn (7/27/2017 6:46:01 PM)

A foreign company is investing 10 billion in the state of WI. Thousands of good paying jobs. Only liberals would be against people actually having good jobs. Like I mentioned earlier, talk to the folks that live in Racine and Kenosha county where they are building this plant. They are very happy.

WickedsDesire -> RE: Foxconn (7/27/2017 6:56:36 PM)

I thought it was three plants...and what do they make anyway?

WickedsDesire -> RE: Foxconn (7/27/2017 7:01:03 PM)

tremendous plants?

Foxconn will have an initial investment of approximately 10 billion. Average wage is said to be in the low 50's. Every state in the country would have wanted this plant, along with many other countries.

I love it, like Donnie Douchovitch Jr loves collusion with Russians. thats only a 30 year payback or so. gonna be a rather large transfer of wealth from us minnesotans (and other states) to nutsucker in cheesehead land, with no payback.

I have let you off the hook, knowing that you all are innumerate and have not considered the incidentals, nor infrastructure costs, something that nutsuckers have said since the time of St. Wrinklemeat we cant afford.

Average wage is nutsucker bullshit. Public data reported is assemblers make $9.26 an hour. So there are going to be a couple multimillion dollar jobs there is all. But those wont be new hires.

Scott Walker and Donald Trump making America Great Again. 3000 new jobs to start, up to 13,000 new jobs in SE Wisconsin.

"that could employ up to 13,000 workers and draw up to $3 billion in subsidies from state taxpayers"

So double maybes that cost state taxpayers $3 billion?

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said the agreement could eventually grow to 13,000 jobs.

Foxconn, however, said the deal will create 3,000 jobs.

No new tax programs were made to accommodate Foxconn at the federal level, although existing tax programs were used.

Foxconn is not a choice free of controversy: Otherwise known as Hon Hai Precision, the company has come under scrutiny in the past over labor practices in China. Still, the White House official said the deal represents Trump's "buy American" agenda.

So . . . the "buy America" idea is to bring Chinese companies here.

In short -- Trump did nothing, Scott sold out Wisconsin taxpayers, and both Trump and Scott are lying their asses off over the deal. And servantforuse.

Know why Foxconn picked Wisconsin? Scott doesn't give a damn about fair labor practices.

This is "Make America the 19th Century Again."

Musicmystery -> RE: Foxconn (7/28/2017 6:41:40 AM)

By the way -- 13,000 jobs at $3 billion is over $230,000 per job to Wisconsin taxpayers.

Can Trump or Scott do math? Foxconn sure can.

This is a great deal? Morons.

It's one thing to hear that new jobs are being created, and usually a good thing too. But the optimism that accompanies an announcement like this can sometimes blind people to negatives factors. There are good reasons to have a few reservations about Foxconn, the company which is behind the new plants and jobs.

Foxconn achieved international notoriety not because of the quality of its products, or its success but because it was the company responsible for the notorious "Suicide City" at its Shenzen China mega-factory. You can read all about it here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foxconn_suicides

"The Foxconn suicides were a spate of suicides linked to low pay at the so-called "Foxconn City" industrial park in Shenzhen, China, that occurred alongside several additional suicides at various other Foxconn-owned locations and facilities in Mainland China.[1] Within 2010, there was 18 attempted suicides by Foxconn (Chinese: 富士康) employees resulting in 14 deaths in the same year.[2][3][4] The series of suicides drew media attention, and employment practices at Foxconn—one of the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturers—were investigated by several of its customers, including Apple and Hewlett-Packard (HP)."
In fact, Foxconn is well known as the world's largest high-end electronics manufacturer, [6] and the third-largest information technology company by revenue (tied with Amazon).[7] It's customers cover almost all of the major high-profile companies in the world— Apple, Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell, Intel, Cisco, Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony.[5] At the same time, Foxconn has steeped in controversy about Sweatshop for a very long time, and both sides have their argument.

Dreadful working conditions, long brain numbing shifts of repetitive work, insane production targets accompanied by relentless pressure to meet these targets, appalling living conditions and an arrogant management that ignored all the warning signs all contributed to a spate of suicides by workers driven out of their wits and way beyond their pain thresholds. One investigation reported that the company's management style was "inhumane and abusive" (op cit). Foxconn denied any responsibility for the suicides, and their initial response was to force workers to sign a 'no suicide' pledge, and to install netting in the open areas between dormitory floors to prevent their workers jumping to their deaths.

It is not known if the company intends to implement the same management style in its new taxpayer subsidised plants in the USA. One can only hope it has learnt from its past mistakes. These concerns are all the more urgent given the poor record of the State in question in the area of fair labour practices as others have highlighted above.

The jobs average over 50k pay per year

That's a great ROI, and a fast ROI

(This is perfect example of why you keep leftards away from the levers of government)

They can do anything in China, including pump massive carbon into the atmosphere, which begs the question - why do leftards do all they can to push our manufacturing there

mnottertail -> RE: Foxconn (7/28/2017 9:09:06 AM)

average. more innumeracy from the nutsuckers. the published assembly worker for foxconn in the us gets 9.26 an hour.

so do the maths.

(19260 (a year of 9.26) X 2000) + x
________________________________ =50000

go, you will be given less than 7 years, which is at the least how innumerate nutsuckers are.
