I believe, and he can correct me if I'm wrong, that RM's point is that feminists don't believe in, or desire, equality of men and women. I'm aware that you do have that belief. Yet a discussion of RM's point would necessitate a discussion between the two extremes. RM has provided, what he considers, a proof of his point. Why not discuss that or ignore it completely?

If the people concerned don't believe in and desire equality of men and women, then they're not feminists. It's not a question of my belief - that's part of what feminism just is. Now, if RM wants to talk about certain women, or certain people, I'm fine with that.

As with many movements there are more than one branch of feminism. Moderate Feminism is much like you describe. But there other
braches whos definition of equality means that men have to become like women. Remember the slogan a woman needs a man like a fish
needs a bicycle?

A good point. Yet, theory is one aspect and practice is another. I've yet to run into a feminist that was into feminism for equailities sake and have run into more than a few who are into feminism for powers sake. So where do I, as a layman in the world, see an equality oriented feminist?

There's a pretty clear strain in feminism that argues that men should try to acquire more qualities that have traditionally been associated with women rather than men, yes.

That may be, and I note for the most part my readings of your posts my understanding would agree. But, I've yet to see a time when RM made a valid point that you backed him against the hate mongers like Stef. I'll look for it in the future.

Status: offline 		one of my grad school advisors was a "feminist" and I learned the difference between "gender feminists" and "radical feminists" and I think those are good terms to describe the differences you are seeing.

RM's threads never avail themselves of the opportunity. He's so far off the scale that the discussion never gets past the basics. For instanced he won't accept what is even meant by 'feminism'. He's a hate-monger himself - and that's the first and generally the only thing that gets dealt with.
