Those who have the money is honestly my best guess. The US Government is by, of, and for those who have all the money. It sadly stopped being about "We the people" somewhere along the way. In my honest opinion, they get us fighting amongst ourselves so we are distracted by the battle...and not the sneaky shady shit being ramrodded through behind the scenes.

Oh ya, that's right. Let's assume a socialist panacea. It's just sooo obvious.

No, Im not promoting a socialist panacea. Not even close. But thanks for chiming in with your entry. The judges will be by in awhile with your participation ribbon because even the completely incorrect get some every once in awhile. Yay, go you!

jlf1961 -> RE: Okay, if statues of southern gererals are promoting racism... (8/20/2017 8:03:15 AM)

Who the fuck wants a 'Socialist Paradise?" or a conservative one?

I want limited government with a code of laws that makes sense (when gathered in one place, do not take require a 24000 square foot warehouse.)

I do not want some jackass shoving his religious beliefs or opinions (or lack of belief in a deity) down my throat and being forced to like it.

Hell, I just want the US Constitution followed without some fuck wit trying to remove parts of it because they do not think they apply in the modern world.

I would like our schools to teach history, accurately, good and bad to our children with the simple desire that if they understand our past they will be wise enough to not make the same fuck ups we did.

Let em make new fuck ups.

Now it would be nice if this perfect government made coffee the national drink (and I am not talking about that flavored shit, or latte's or cappuccinos or any of that other crap, but honest to god, unadulterated coffee.)

Im just as puzzled as you are where Ninja [not their screen name...but I cant think of the correct spelling as I type...so Ninja it is 😊] got Socialism from what I said.

We also share a love of straightforward coffee 😊

A few simplify my profile name to ninja, that's okay with me. I apologized if I misunderstood the premise of your statement. Most people that jump in here and start decrying "the rich" have that in mind. I'm not aligned with the rich people bad socialist mentality. I'm more aligned with the "anyone who actually wants to run the government for my benefit probably is the last person you want to do so" mentality.

Danemora -> RE: Okay, if statues of southern gererals are promoting racism... (8/20/2017 9:05:19 AM)

Its all good, Ninja 😊 We're square. The apology, though not necessary, is both accepted and appreciated. I can understand the logic behind how you got there once you explained it. My apologies too for not following up what I said with a caveat of some sort.

I dont follow the mentality of rich being bad either. I just see our US Government here as rich folks writing laws and doing things to help out other rich folks. But we're fed the bullshit about how this is a government by, of, and for the people. Its that disconnect I have the biggest issue with. Its not the wealth itself

We appear to agree, as long as the coffee is Sumantran or Columbian.

And not a blend of different kinds of coffee beans.

100% Arabica.

If the tumor isn't going to kill me- by all means, leave it there. The surgery is more dangerous than the tumor.

Really? Because i thought you just said on the other thread that communism has nothing much to do with government.

The only communist type I have ever discussed politics with who claimed to believe in smaller government, appeared to be totally insane.

back to statues:

"Latest Victim Of Statue Hysteria: Catholic Saints"

quote:

Over the past few days, Confederate generals have been placed in the crosshairs of the progressive Left. Statues to these Americans who fought on the losing side of our civil war, which bothered no one—and probably still don’t—are being targeted for demolition. Yet, why stop there? Abraham Lincoln, who actually kept the country together and abolished slavery through a constitutional amendment, has been vandalized in Chicago. Now, even statues to Thomas Jefferson and George Washington have to come down because they were slave owners. Forget that they helped found this great country. Forget that Washington ad Jefferson were our first and second presidents; they’re monsters whose legacy must be sanitized and erased because we must all become woke, or whatever the hell that term means. Now, Catholic saints have been vandalized in Mission Hills, California (via CBSLA):

Several people stopped by a statue of Father Junipero Serra in a park across from Mission San Fernando on Thursday after a photo made the rounds on social media appearing to show the statue had been vandalized.

A picture circulating Facebook showed the statue spray-painted red and the word “murder” written on Serra in white.

While city officials would not confirm the authenticity of the photo or the clean-up, CBS2 reporter Crystal Cruz saw red paint on Serra’s arm and a swastika on the statue of the child standing next to him.

“Everyone’s entitled to their own public opinions and thoughts,” said Cristian Mendoza. “But once it gets to this level I don’t think it’s right.”

The Daily Wire wrote why there was such animus towards Saint Junipero Serra:

Ever since Pope Francis canonized Father Junipero Serra for Sainthood in 2015, the Left and SJW snowflakes claim he had a violent history toward Native Americans. The LA Times said that "glossing over Junipero Serra's inhumanity was insult to Native Americans."

Archaeology professor Reuben Mendoza of Cal State Monterrey Bay debunked this garbage during the controversy.

"When he died, many native peoples came to the mission for his burial. They openly wept. Others of his colleagues and even colonists believed that he would be made a saint because of the way he had lived his life, a self-effacing life of a martyr,” said Mendoza.

This is going to get worse, isn’t it?

and other things:

"War on Monuments Moves to a New Front: Animals"

quote:

After progressives spent the week demanding that all statues having anything to do with the confederacy be immediately removed, the battle is moving on to another front.

Many have warned that capitulating to the demand to remove statues won't satisfy progressives, and some students at the University of Southern California are proving them correct. At each USC football home game, a sword-waving costumed Trojan warrior rides onto the field on a white horse while the processional march "Conquest" plays.

This tradition started as a "one-time stunt" in 1961 when Richard Saukko, who rode his horse, Traveler, in the Rose Parade earlier that year, was asked to perform at the season opener that fall. Saukko "used Charlton Heston’s leftover costumes from 'Ben Hur' to assemble a Trojan warrior outfit — though the armor bruised his arms" and rode his chalk-white Arabian onto the field.

The performance has since become a well-known tradition, but a group of students claim Traveler is linked to confederate General Robert E. Lee, whose horse was named Traveller - with two L's. The issue came up at a campus rally last week designed to show solidarity with Charlottesville.

At the rally, according to the student newspaper the Daily Trojan, Saphia Jackson, co-director of the USC Black Student Assembly, asked students not to be quiet, and reminded that “white supremacy hits close to home” and referenced the name of the Trojans mascot.

A USC spokesperson referred the LA Times to the USC website when asked about the name issue:

“USC’s mascot horse is a symbol of ancient Troy. Its rider, with costume and sword, is a symbol of a Trojan warrior. The name Traveler, spelled with one ‘l,’ is a common name among horses. . . . USC’s Traveler is and has always been a proud symbol of Troy. There is no truth to any other claims or rumors about its name.”

Saukko's widow, Pat, said the horse was already named Traveler when her husband acquired him in 1958 and told reporters:

“The problem is this: maybe three weeks ago it was fine. So now the flavor of the day is . . . we all have to be in hysteria. . . . It’s more of a political issue. The horse isn’t political and neither am I.”

We're quickly approaching a day where nothing will be able to have any name, when no monuments or statues can be erected, because somebody, somewhere, will be offended or claim the person or name has something to do with oppressing people. You've overplayed your hand, progressives.

So what's next? Will people who just happen to be named Lee or Davis be removed because they are reminders of slavery?
This whole thing is ridiculous.

It was an idiotic liberal jest at people wanting to leave statues because they're history. Of course, since liberals have no sense of humor it's your first clue that it's really sarcasm. Then the post tries to make an equivalency between two things not equivalent. Which is a perfectly sound form of logic to a liberal who has no logic but rather just wants to feel good.

Jackson Lee would cover a Democratic Congress woman, although I think she has retired.
