Super unacceptable!
Robert Lee gotta be one of the most common Chinese names in Singapore.
Lots of Chinese folks are called Robert Lee here. Just need to look at Facebook.
Lots of Chinese.
I don't know what white folks are doing with the surname "Lee" too.
I mean, that's literally one of the most common Chinese surname.
Our Founder of our country is a "Lee", except he is "Harry Lee".

What in the fuck does a popular name outside of the US have to do with fucking anything here?

Totally Relevant when a Chinese named Robert Lee was prevented from newscasting.

My point is, Robert Lee is one of the most common Chinese name out there. So for them to freak out and think that a Chinese named Robert Lee is gonna offend Libs.

Is seriously unacceptable.

Well, if you had bothered to read the linked article, what actually happened is this was going to be Lee's first play-by-play, and ESPN thought that there might be some shitheads who would make a fuss over his name and so they asked him if he would like to do a different game for his debut, and he agreed and asked for a different game.
Funny how shit is not quite as bad as you think when you actually look at the facts, eh?

I did read the article.

quote:

I think it's absolutely horrible that the dude HAD to remove himself from the game, because of his name being associated with a White Robert Lee. He was NOT part of the confederate! And Robert Lee in the Chinese world, is a super common Chinese name! Everyone is name Robert Lee!
And on top of that, you are talking to an Asian here! Who are non-confrontational people.
Even if he wanted to present that night, he would have just not make trouble and agreed to change.
He was asked nicely and politely to change. BUT the point is, why does he have to be asked to change at all?
I wish that Robert Lee should have just stayed and stuck to it. Because he is an ASIAN Robert Lee, and he has nothing to be ashame about.

ESPN was concerned about the image projected by the name, and what others (not him, not necessarily Asians) might do because of this guy's name.

Hey, if Singapore held an election, you think someone named Tomoyuki Yamashita or Masayuki Oishi would fare well?

You mean if say a broadcaster's name was....hmmmm...Clinton?... You will have to face up to the fact that there are more liberals for ESPN to worry about than you minority conservatives... stop complaining and change minds....

Butch

Conservatives wouldn't threaten someone because of their name, leftist obviously will, maybe they should grow up.

Yep that attitude will change minds....and yes conservatives would NEVER dream of doing such a thing... they would much rather just run over people instead.

One person, who was even disavowed by the Klan, as opposed to intifa using firebombs and being proud of it.

BS I detest the Klan as much as I do intifa.
That is the point, conservatives like me detest both intifa and Nazis, you only detest Nazis.
I would be just as unhappy with ESPN if they caved to the Klan.

Lee is also a old English name, one of our founders was also Harry Lee.

It's very strange.
Because Lee is such a Chinese word. Doesn't sound English.

I don't know enough about languages to say greta, but since we have different alphabets, we are talking about some sort of transliteration.

is it possible that what often ends up getting spelled "lee" could just as easily get spelled "li?"

Maybe your state Senator calling for someone to kill the president is what the left calls
reasonable debate.

It's Alinsky bs, shaming people into silence with these sorts of accusations of supporting Nazis or racists blah blah blah

I just had some dweeb on another thread accuse me of supporting NAMBLA because I mentioned the name of someone who is gay, who suffered an attack from a leftist mob that was out to silence his political speech

Just for mentioning that person't name...

Doesn't get any lower than that

Shooting a congressman at softball practice is their idea of reasonable debate these days

Going after you with a violent mob

He isn't just gay. Who gives a fuck if he likes other MEN? He said that his molestation by an older man was a good thing for him and it should happen to others.

HE IS SCUM

You have also supported and been sympathetic to that person repeatedly in the past.

Yet you whine about personal attacks that don't exist while making yet another one (as defined by CS TOS)here.

...or claiming that you support NAMBLA or whatever, if you mention Milo's name

("Debate" doesn't get any lower or any less intellectual than that)

I didn't claim you support NAMBLA
I said you support that scum Milo and HE supports them.
I also stated that a Conservative would not support such a person.

That was a whopper of a lie even for you.

In other words, you just got your ass handed to you and feel like you have to have the last word.

This wouldn't happen if you supported Conservatives and not kiddie fiddlers.

its not a "lie" brainiac---its a straight forward rendering of the phrase "you support NAMBLA boy"

meaning, as written, that bosco is "boy", as in "fetch that book boy."

if you wanted to refer to milo you should have written "you support NAMBLA-boy"

hows that for "getting your ass handed to you?"
