He can make people forget about the latest unpleasantness in VA and his pardon of Arapaio.
He can also kick the wall question down the road while not appearing to back down.
If he does this, he will also solidify his position in one of his base states.

It's simple folks.
He can make an announcement that "As the American people in Texas are hurting, I will delay my plans for the wall and direct the funding to help those in need after this terrible natural disaster"

I'd about guarantee that within 10 days, his approval ratings will jump 10 points.

THAT would shoot his poll numbers up. He needs to push the things he promised, that got him elected (despite Hillary being +12 points in every swing state)

I think the only way he'd be able to smell like a rose is if he changes the Presidential fabric softener.

Nixon hit high 20's right before he resigned and, if I remember correctly, Truman hit 22% at one time.

The net of this is that Mr. Trump now has a goal.

And a goal he can actually achieve for a change: not even the RINOs in Congress who threw out his plan to "reform" the ACA can deny him the lowest approval rating in history if he keeps working at it the way that he has been doing. I'm looking forwards to the tweets when he gets it down to single figures...
