There are elements of NAFTA that suck donkey balls. But, the basic concept of free trade between the three North American countries is sound.
One thing that needs to be addressed is safety standards for vehicles crossing from Mexico. That a Mexican trucker can pick up a load in Monterrey and deliver it to the end destination in Beaumont rather than the truck have to be unloaded at the border and loaded into a U.S. truck is a good thing. That the inspection standards of Mexican vehicles is perceived as more lax than the U.S. states is the issue. A common set of standards is needed.
Another thing is tariffs on U.S. goods going to Canada and the very slow customs processing of goods going to Canada. You can get stuff from Britain or Hong Kong delivered faster than stuff shipped from Chicago. (personal anecdotal take on the actual shipping times)
'A common set of standards is needed' so how about a common set of 'standards' on wages or 'standard' of living ? World wide wages have taken a serious hit since 2008 and is just now getting back some since then, some but not at all.
It's too top heavy as the differences are expanding as well. So no, few problems get fixed that will in any way reduce profits...the whole reason for NAFTA, since the other benefits don't count for much in terms of 'standard' of living.
You see when you take your tin foil hat off you do get delusional. You really can't see differences between systems can you?

First you have to ask me if I care. Delusions are a matter of perspective. Systems are a matter of design and the current 'system' is 'designed' to maximize profits and that can be at anybody's expense, most of which is at labor's expense.
Say you're a Chinese govt. bureaucrat making 60% more than the average factory worker at $4,800/yr., how do you change that system ? How do the factory workers change that 'system ?'
Say you are Walmart stocker making $18,000/yr. yet nobody is paying anymore. How do you change that 'system ?' Even attempt to unionize or form any collective bargaining, you are fired. How do you change that 'system ?'
