Power was just restored here. Cell towers are still iffy. Normalcy is slowly returning.

I made it through OK, only losing a few trees. One landed on my car, but no damage, aside from hellacious scrapes in the paint job.

And yes, it was one of my trees that knocked out power in the neighborhood. But in my defense, the power company had already tagged it (and several others) for removal, but didn't bother to cut it. And I'm really glad I slept through the neighbors sawing it up to get it out of the road.

Yeah, i'm not sure who is worse, the alarmists or the christians who are so excited by the 'signs' of the 2nd coming approaching.

I believe it is The Third Coming we are waiting for. Rumor has it That the Second Coming already occurred. Jesus came, looked around, and said “Meh, never mind.”

Sort of harsh Vince... we, both individuals and as a nation give a lot to those suffering tragedies. I think it has more to do with how to get the aid to people...

Yes, we do, Butch. But only when notified and led by our federal government and by our news media. Notice that in the past two weeks not only were we silent on the 1200 who died in Southwest Asia, but hardly a word was said about the tragedy of the earthquake in Mexico. Granted that we were preoccupied with our own major problems and we certainly must take care of our own first but silence on the tragedies in South West Asia and in Mexico has been deafening.

There is no doubt the news media leads the way... but again it is not because these people are not white. There are many hundreds, i would guess, of individual Churches and other charitable organizations that are helping the less fortunate every single day... it is just not in the news.

Glad you came out of this with only minor damage.
Florida and Texas continue to regroup and rebuild.

I am a person of color, and I started this thread, because I am a United States citizen and I felt like starting this thread.
I am not going to start threads on every disaster that occurs in the world, I am hoping that one of the people moaning about the LACK of threads about other world disasters, will start threads on them.
I will gladly participate.

Excuse me, Butch, I don’t recall saying anything about color or people of color. Why did you raise that issue?

I think he is trying to prove that unless thousands die, its not a catastrophe.
The fact that people learned and safety has become a feature for oft hit areas is a good thing, less people dying is a good thing.
Completely ignoring the rest of the worlds floods, or the horrific fires on the east coast of the US, two major hurricanes in the same month(so far)
of course climate change is a hoax.
As Stevie Wonder recently said, you have to be ignorant or blind not to see its real. (paraphrasing)

First...who I appear to be...ain't me. Cspace has been setting me up as other than me for about 2 weeks every damn time I sign on.

Second....1900...1875....1946....today....jeeeesus...we can look at every spectrum and it's CLEAR: We're doing it.

In the early 1900's, there weren't enough of us that if we shit all on everyone's dinner plate...we couldn't have caused any of this......

Today....there is simply no debate.

We can stop.

We have the technology.

I'm buying electric DUMP trucks in February.

They carry 78% the load that my gas and diesel trucks carried before.

They cost 3.77 times what the same gas/diesel powered vehicles did.

It's a start.
