This question seems to have been overlooked in the latest thread about the gay bashing caterer, and it seems more interesting than most of the discussion in there.

Only if you dont discriminate on who sees it, buys it eats it, or pushes it in someones face

I was forgetting the Flan Flinger, but that's a whole other discussion...

On the other hand, going into a certain cake-maker's establishment and pushing a cake into his face - that *might* be art. Just imagine how viral the YouTube vid would go!

MAINEiacMISTRESS -> RE: Are cakes art? (9/19/2017 6:01:33 AM)

A cake is art if I'm trampling it and making a chained slave lick it from between My toes. I should then send that cake maker a photo of what I have done with his cake. Better yet, I'll send him a VIDEO.

Here are a few more questions that should have been included in your pole:

1. If a Muslim bakery refused to make an art cake for a gay wedding, would they be persecuted the way Christian bakery's are for refusing for the same reasons?
2. Are Christian's the only one's who sell art cakes?
3. Are Christian bakeries who sell art cakes selling something essential that can only be bought there?

DesFIP -> RE: Are cakes art? (9/19/2017 8:02:50 AM)

My cakes aren't art. Some cake decoration is. But most are not.

1 They don't and they aren't
2 No
3 No

No, that would be assault. But I guess assault's okay if the victim is white, male and heterosexual, eh Peon?

Like shooting fish in a barrel.

Cakes, just like ice sculptures, are definitely Art!

Especially the fancy cakes these days are unreal! They are master pieces. I saw one with spiderman swinging around a building and it was so realistic, so much attention to detail, I don't know how can anybody eat it and destroy it!

Kids trying to outdo each other on who has the most elaborate fancy birthday cakes. Birthday cakes these days are like 3D graphics. It's all about realism until it doesn't look like cake anymore!

1. I would hope so. And give me a break-- it's not persecution.
2. No, but the issue isn't about being able to get a cake, the issue is discrimination.
3. Again, the issue is discrimination, not how many cake stores there are in any given town.

How can anybody see the cakes these days and not think it's Art? Cakes are so Arty these days!

.....between the toes ? LIFE...is art.

Greta is right that some cakes can be real artworks. But some are just cakes.

Painting a wall doesn't just make if art, but there is always the potential.

So you're taking the line that a cake maker refusing to provide two homosexuals with a wedding cake proves that he's a proper artist, because artistry is defined by elitism and excluding people?

(I do like a couple of Greta's photos, though.)

If it isn't a work of art you can get it at Walmart.

bounty44 -> RE: Are cakes art? (9/19/2017 1:14:42 PM)

i agree.

if its a creative expression that has aesthetic value, then its art.

with that said, I don't see a distinction in the case of a specially made cake as compared to say if the person in question were a singer and was asked to perform at a gay wedding, or to make a sculpture or paint a painting.

the crux being that art lends itself to any occasion on a very personal level.

DarkRavisher -> RE: Are cakes art? (9/19/2017 1:19:41 PM)

How can something created by a prejudiced abomination be claimed as “art.”
Would he have made the cake for two women is a better question? The crux of his prejudices, or beliefs, hinge on this critical hot lesbian massage component.
