I hope, with all my being, that our world never sees a nuclear war.

It won't matter who started it. I hate that we have moved away from the mutually assured destruction and are having discussions of 'what ifs."

Of course nobody wants a nuclear war, except , maybe Kim.

Yes we should nuke NK. Absolutely.

I honestly can't imagine anyone would be absolutely confident that it is right to bomb a country that could have twice as many casualties (S. Korea) as the target (N. Korea) (about 76.6 million people total.)

You have no doubt at all that it is ok to kill millions of men, women and children?

There won't be twice as many casualties if they do it correctly.

Why would we bomb S Korea.

BamaD, we wouldn't. We wouldn't even kill all 25 +/- million in N.Korea but a Nuclear strike on the N. would have an impact on 50+/- million in S. Korea. From Fallout to fleeing refugees. The cost of human life as well as quality of life would be just unimaginable.

No, we can't sit back and let America be attacked, but we shouldn't be chomping at the bit to use a nuclear weapon(s).

I don't know if having Kim as the devil we know is better than taking him out and facing any unknown consequences of our actions; no one on this board has that knowledge. I can say that being feared may be better than being liked, but being so feared we cause other major players in the game to band together against us is not good.

Can't get rid of him because his replacement could be worse is an excuse for inaction I have heard all my life.
Kim is about as bad as it gets, MAD doesn't work with him because he isn't sane. What you are saying is that he is holding the south
hostage, so we can't do anything. As long as he believes that he will not stop.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/what-the-world-thinks-of-trump/

quote:

Two patterns jump out. First, since Trump took office, confidence in the president has gone down further, on average, than favorability toward the U.S.: Confidence dropped 47 percentage points; U.S. favorability just 13 points. Since 2005, perceptions of the U.S. have changed less than those of the president.
Second, while respondents’ views of both America and the president have decreased in the past year, the drops are not uniform. Some of the biggest declines have been in countries with whom the U.S. has a collective defense agreement, such as NATO members and Japan, especially when it comes to confidence in the president. Mexico, unsurprisingly, also saw a big public opinion drop on both questions. On the other hand, public favorability toward the U.S. has gone up in Russia, and public confidence in the president has gone up in both Israel and Russia since Trump took office.5
Overall, though, Trump has brought a return to George W. Bush-era levels of favorability for the U.S. and the presidency.

Well done!

I love it. Also for all of the deranged Trump haters here, Trump never said anything about nuclear. He just said he would destroy NK. If it were to happen, that would be Chinas worst nightmare.

Well, there's this:

And I really don't think China would be the only one suffering nightmares if he did it.

I just hope they do something soon. This crap with Kim Yung Un has been going on for far too long already.

It is all very worrisome. I agree with what many have said about MAD not working with Kim. The problem with irrational leaders, is you can't reason with irrational - hard to be heard over all the crazy voices in their head.

Seems like a nice quiet "appears to be natural causes," death (or two) would be the lesser of evils. probably against agreements made with allies and such.

I can't stop thinking of just how many children would be killed or orphaned in an attack. I will never be able to see any good that can come from mass killings. Personally, I think there is a good chance that Kim's rule and country will fall apart naturally without any need for us to raise a hand. If we can keep his (and Trumps) hands away from the big red "launch" buttons. Figuratively speaking, of course.

Why call him anything ? He is the leader of a sovereign country, albeit a smaller one than America . Trump is very thin skinned and doesn't like being called names , why should he assume Kim Jong Un is any different ? I have heard it said that calling your enemy names, empowers them over you .

He is possibly/probably a bit unhinged . He is thin-skinned . He likes telling the world how powerful his country is . He likes to show off his military might . He lies to his people and expects them to lap it all up and believe him . He lies to the world and expects them to lap it al up and believe him . He is a braggart with a terrible hair-do .
Damn !!! I forgot who I was talking about !!
