Al queda is taking responsibility saying he recently converted to islam but the fbi isn't confirming it.

ISIS too. Propaganda. He acted alone and without any jihadist overtones. Plus converting to Islam for their kind of terrorist...is not enough. This is not a terrorist thing, this is a gun control thing.

Now don't worry, this is not all going to happen soon, this is a slow step-by-step process where you won't have to but your kids and almost certainly their kids, will quietly and willingly give up their guns. (to join the rest of the invalidated BoR)

Oh and carrying a cross...wrapped in a flag.

It doesn't make sense that someone who supports gun control would do this. It may turn into a gun control discussion, but it doesn't really make sense that that was the gunman's motive.

Well the one thing we do know, is that we...will never know for sure. But I am not convinced this guy wasn't clinically ill which if so, means he...could do anything and unpredictably so. And now the whole gun control debate keeps raging.

It appears that the killer/shooter "snapped" and was mentally ill or at the very least seriously depressed.
In either case, the fact that he was able to obtain all these high powered rifles AND get them into a 5 star hotel is troubling.

ANYONE can get depressed, become mentally ill or snap.

True enough. Maybe we need better 'people control' in maybe, every way concerning guns.

I think a good gun control is compromise is limiting the number of guns a person can own. And there should be a National registry so all gun shops would have access to it to know if this man reached his gun buying limit and can't get anymore! The amount of guns he had is abit insane! On top of that, I was reading articles that the gun shops who sold him guns denied that anything they sold him was capable of the damage that shooting did. They all claim he got it modified elsewhere. And if he did, who does these modifications? Are these modifications legal?

I mean seriously, how many different type of guns does one person need for day to day protection?

I own a total of 73 guns, and I'm a freakin liberal. All legal, and registered to me. My father was an avid collector, so I got his toys when he passed.

And every time some damn foreigner says 'Americans have too many guns', I feel like buying a new one.

He does not appear to have been descended from a population that circumcises their male offspring; though in the USA one can not know such a thing for certain.

American white men are mostly circumcised though. I am unsure if African American practice circumcision too. But it seems to be quite a common practice among American white males. For some damn strange misrepresented hygiene reason.

And Alex Jones is reporting that this is a Democrat plot to kill the 2nd Amendment.

.....and there is no evidence of this either as conspicuous by its absence, is specifying just what 'massive legislation' (rollback ?) he's talking about.

“We had a massive rollback working its way through the Republican Congress, a massive rollback on a lot of gun control regulations,” Knight opined. “And this [shooting], I believe, when we see these types of events — interesting, isn’t it that there’s always kind of coincidental alignment as the Democrats have some kind of a legislative agenda that could want to run through.”

But reality here is. ISIS did.

True, but then again Daesh is claiming responsibility for fucking everything these days, so I will take their claims with several grains of salt until such time as a motive is determined or a Daesh link is established..

But do you have to collect guns that can actually "shoot"? Couldn't they just look exactly like guns but cannot work practically? I mean, why do you need soooo many guns that work?

If it's just for display and collection and appreciation of it's beauty?

It's not like you actually play with all 73 of them regularly!

And anyway right. I come from a country with zero gun ownership and zero mass gun shooting incidents. It actually works to prevent such things from happening. That's the practical reality of it!

So if you are really feeling sorry for the country music festival folks, can't you sacrifice your guns a little to prevent another such a mass massacre again?

I am just suggesting a compromise. This gun registry limits each person to 3 guns maybe. And the rest of the guns, they gotta buy dummy guns, if they want more for beauty and collection.

I am presently restoring two such weapons, an M1919 air cooled, belt fed 30 cal that during WW2 had been converted to have a butt instead of the traditional trigger and a 30.06 BAR

As for the BAR, (Browning Automatic Rifle) on a side note. The BAR and Browning has quite a history.

Delivered to the Army in 1918, got bipods and was fully adopted in 1938. Used in combat worldwide, practice and in service until 1991. Browning did a live demo of his water-cooled machine gun and the infantry automatic shoulder rifle. The govt. immed. ordered the water-cooled model.

By 1943 it had become difficult to keep up with demand but production rates greatly increased in 1943 after IBM introduced a method of casting BAR receivers from a new type of malleable pig iron developed by the Saginaw division of General Motors, called ArmaSteel.

After successfully passing a series of tests at Springfield Armory, the Chief of Ordnance instructed other BAR receiver manufacturers to change over from steel to ArmaSteel castings for this part

The BAR never entirely lived up to the original hopes of the war department as either a rifle or a machine gun, yet, remained in service until 1991 and is still used world wide at all levels.

Remember to link where you plagiarize from.

Well it was just a side note and from hearing while I was there, all about how Browning and IBM worked to put the BAR into as many hands as possible.

Oh yes we do.... unless you think killing 58 strangers is normal... there is no sane justification for this.

If you mean "sane" means being a good person. And any person who feel attracted to "evil acts" are insane.

But there are many mass murdering cases that, are pretty conscious and know what they are doing, and they just enjoy it.

.....otherwise known as psychopaths.

You don't own nearly enough guns, JVoV. You should go out and buy many, many more of them. Ideally, you should have enough guns to decorate a 15 foot Christmas tree.

Sure. But it takes a fair number of rape generations for the frequency of sociopath genes to build up in the population.

In the absence of evidence, it is not fair to claim that there might be a link to being descended from a population that practized circumcision.

You think the left want to mass murder the right? Really?

Personally, I think the radicals of either side are just two sides of the same coin, but I've never considered that the average Democrat and the average Rebuplican wished harm on each other.

They might not want to physically harm them, but they want them dead in every other way.

I lived in Toronto which has a shit load of them (about a half million in the census area, the 2nd largest religious group) and my experience of Muslims is markedly different from hers. This doesn't mean her experience is wrong, only that it is not a universal one, that the Muslims in her neighbourhood are not like the Muslims in my old neighbourhood (there are, to my knowledge 0 Muslims anywhere near my current home).
Perhaps this difference can be attributed to the fact that the vast majority of the Muslims where I lived did indeed emigrate to get the fuck away from all the bullshit in their homelands, and also most of them came here from Africa and western Asia/Mideast, not Malaya/Singapore, so there will be significant cultural differences to begin with.
In short, the Muslims she knows are not all Muslims, nor are they at all representative of the Muslims here in the Americas.
