heavyblinker -> RE: Looks like Flynn is next! (11/6/2017 3:50:56 AM)

Bosco, this is how it is:

The Russians are a hostile power.
Trump (probably) worked with this hostile power in order to win the election.
The hostile power has an interest in undermining US global leadership.
Putting Trump in the White House, undermining Trump and then aggravating the political divide is a way to undermine US global leadership.
LOOK AT THE SHITSHOW AMERICA HAS BECOME.

Practically every other nation in the world is mocking America for choosing this moron, and is also terrified of what he might do. He is literally destroying the US-- ruining the credibility of its leadership, aggravating the wealth gap, defiling the office of the president, embarrassing the citizens and bringing out the worst aspects of the American psyche-- racism, sexism, nationalism, xenophobia, etc.

I am willing to bet that Trump was too stupid, naïve and impulsive to even ask himself or anyone around him what the Russians' endgame might be.

No idea if this is true or not. (Not really on-topic)....

But the ONLY "evidence" of the premise for the article is the opinion of lawyers for Facebook and Twitter.

http://thehill.com/policy/technology/358906-russian-support-for-trump-on-twitter-started-shortly-after-he-announced-bid

A new analysis of Twitter data finds that Russian Twitter support for President Trump started shortly after he launched his White House bid.

According to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal, support for Trump from Russian-linked Twitter accounts started weeks after Trump announced his run for president in June of 2015.

Previously, a U.S. intelligence assessment said Russian support over social media began as early as December 2015.

The analysis by the Journal — which looked through 159,000 deleted tweets from accounts operated by the Kremlin-backed Internet Research Agency — found the support may have started much earlier and showed the accounts offered significantly more praise for Trump than criticism.
One account, @TamaFlan, in August tweeted: “#TrumpBecause It’s time for @BarackObama and @HillaryClinton to go quietly into the night #MakeAmericaGreatAgain.”

The accounts also attacked Hillary Clinton.

Last week, Facebook, Google and Twitter officials were grilled by lawmakers from both parties on the Senate Judiciary Committee who pushed the companies for more answers on how their platforms were used by Russia.

Testimony from the companies released last week revealed that posts from Russian agents on Facebook reached 126 million users over a two-year period before the election, while Twitter published more than 131,000 messages from Russia agents.

More than 1,000 videos from Russian agents were uploaded to Google’s YouTube.

Company representatives testified last Tuesday that this represented a small number of the posts, messages and videos about the election on their services.

The fact that the Russians wanted Trump specifically, not any of his GOP competitors makes it even more horrifying.
It suggests that it wasn't just about getting revenge on Hillary.

A blackmail scenario is beginning to seem that much more likely.

You're a moron

They attacked Hillary because her media friends pronounced her "inevitable"

They thought they were undermining the future president of the United States

Now that President Trump has proven the mainstream media to be howlers just like you, the Russians are attacking President Trump

Musicmystery -> RE: Looks like Flynn is next! (11/6/2017 7:25:05 AM)

Trump was a moron to take on Flynn in the first place, pre-warned it was a bad idea, but never listening to good advice, doing it anyway.

FFS read the article.

They didn't just attack Hillary, they also SUPPORTED TRUMP.
We already knew they supported Trump during the presidential elections, but now we know that they also supported him during the GOP PRIMARIES.
That was the whole point of the article!

Crazy talk

Speech and thought here have never been regulated. We have always been exposed to propaganda from many sources, and the only alternative is to strictly regulate or ban free speech

Which is crazy talk. But something I am sure many leftists would eagerly agree to

Cliff dive into it head first without even thinking
