Perhaps the most telling thing about this news story is how nobody is surprised.

Donald Trump re-tweets the postings of a far right activist about to be prosecuted for incitement and then weighs into UK politics by telling the UK government to get its house in order, adding "We are doing just fine".

None of the videos depict anything that had actually happened in he UK and were tweeted as part of an anti-Muslim hate campaign by Britain First.

No sense of context, no cultural sensitivity, no respect for a foreign government that are supposed to be his friends, no sense, no surprise.

Someone should hide his dog-whistle.

As a Muslim, I can say the tweet was really hurtful and stupid. But it's good to know most people agree how stupid the tweet was. If anything, I think the tweet made any doubts anyone had about how racist Trump is more clear.

The president is correct. The reality about the Islamic death cult is being suppressed by media propagandists

The president was in error regarding that particular point, but overall he is correct - the media misleads the public

Which is why we see the people Muslims would slaughter first giving them their total support

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/donald-trump-britain-first-tweet-dutch-officials-muslim-migrant-video-netherlands-prosecution-a8083011.html

Dutch officials debunk Donald Trump's Britain First tweet about 'Muslim migrant'
A video re-posted by the President claimed to show a 'Muslim migrant beating up a Dutch boy on crutches' – but it didn't

Dutch officials have acted quickly to support the latter, saying instead that he was born and raised in the Netherlands.

"The public prosecution service Noord-Holland has studied the file submitted by the police," a spokesman for the Dutch public prosecution service told the Press Association.

"The suspect, who was born and raised in the Netherlands, received a HALT settlement. This has been successfully completed."

The boy's religion was not included in any reports.

It's Not an Act
It’s no longer possible to pretend that President Trump is simply playing at bigotry, hypocrisy, and detachment from reality.
Over the past 24 hours, President Trump has delivered a concentrated dose of misinformation, self-sabotage, hypocrisy, and bigotry that stands out even by the standards of his short and eventful political career.

The president blew up negotiations to fund the government with a tweet attacking Democratic congressional leaders. He retweeted inflammatory and misleading anti-Islam videos from a bigoted far-right British politician. He joked about presenting a “Fake News Trophy” to media networks. He called attention to Matt Lauer, the NBC host fired on Wednesday for sexual misconduct, despite Trump’s own past admissions of sexual assault. He baselessly implied that NBC host Joe Scarborough, a onetime informal adviser, might have been involved in the death of an intern years ago in Florida. And several outlets reported that the president privately continues to claim preposterous things, including that it wasn’t him on the Access Hollywood tape and that Barack Obama really wasn’t born in the United States.
It’s unclear what precipitated the meltdown. Trump was having a decent stretch in office, including relatively smooth progress for the GOP tax bill. Taken individually, none of these examples is all that unusual for Trump. His bigotry toward Muslims has been on display for years. He has blown up budget negotiations before. He frequently passes along unverified and false information. His hypocrisy about sexual-harassment allegations is not new. He has a weakness for conspiracy theories.

Taken together, however, they offer yet another display of poor judgment and divisive leadership from the putative leader of the free world, and they again cast doubt on his fitness for his office. They are also further evidence that Trump’s hypocrisy, bigotry, and dishonesty are not an act. He means it all.

I only included about a third of the article.
there is so much more at the link.

In response to Trump's comments about the UK focusing on Islamic terrorism while the US is "doing just fine" and what you are saying about what you call the "Islamic death cult", terrorism has been responsible for far fewer deaths in the UK than the "mass murder cult" in the US.

A sense of proportion is necessary here before you or the US president tells the UK to get its house in order. Mass murderers in the US kill far more people than terrorism in the UK, even allowing for the larger population in the US.

I am statistically far safer walking the streets of the UK than an American citizen, despite the existence of terrorism.

I'm a pretty straightforward guy, I'll rather take the lower UK risk of being caught up in a terrorist attack over the much higher US risk of being caught up in a mass shooting.

Once Donald Trump addresses the law and order issues in his own country, he might have the moral authority to point out problems in other countries.

Most people in the UK, be they from the right or the left, think Trump's tweets were in-advised at best and insulting at worst.

As a side-note, Britain First's best electoral showing was 1.2% in the same election that voted in Sadiq Khan, a muslim politician, as London mayor.

There's a growing body of opinion here, in fact, that his main error on this one was down to being just thick. Specifically, that he thought that 'Britain First' was just based on the equivalent vibe to his own 'America First'.

ummm...so how is this "more proof that trump is a racist" if he is not talking about race, at least in the eyes of the person posting??

its an absolutely clear reference that the person greta is responding to is reckoning muslims as a "race"

I'm not going to get into argument about whether Islamophobia is racism or not, because as far as I'm concerned there's so little practical difference as to the effects of the two things on their victims as to render the point hardly worth talking about. Still, for anyone interested, here's an outline of the views of Professor Stuart Hall, the sociologist, on racism. As far as he's concerned, race is next to meaningless as a biological thing. It only makes sense as a social thing - specifically, a way of picking one group as 'other'. Here you go, an excerpt of that outline:

"Race — as one of my favorite sociologists, the late (and great) Stuart Hall put it - is a “floating signifier,” meaning that it is a fluid concept which has specific connotations during certain moments in history. Races, in short, have never been exclusively biologically determined but rather politically constructed by powerful people, usually dominant groups in societies.

According to Hall, there is a new type of racism — “cultural racism,” which is my focus here. Racism is no longer about race (skin color) but culture. People are Othered and discriminated against not (simply) because of the color of their skin (or other phenotypes) but because of their beliefs and practices associated with some “imagined culture.”"

Muslims Aren't A Race, So I Can't Be Racist, Right? Wrong.

BoscoX -> RE: Trump retweets UK far right group anti-Muslim videos (11/30/2017 5:40:57 PM)

So... By your "logic"...

Hating this guy would be wrong too, because it's "racist" to dislike death cults

She correlated Trump showing a video of Muslims doing misdeeds as the equivalent of racism.

But Muslim is not a race. So I have to assume that she mistakenly think that only coloured people can be Muslims. Which is 100% not true. Muslim isn't a race!

So i question if she is a real Muslim who knows what a Muslim is.

It's not discriminating to be disapproving of people who support and champion a religion that promotes wife beating the same way it's not discriminating to be disapproving of people who identfy as Nazis and who champion Hitler beliefs.

People want to support a belief system that supports beating of wives, go ahead men and women and fly that flag. BUT I REFUSED to ever support a religion that encourages beating their wives!

And it's not racism. If a Muslim ditch his support for pro wife beating horrendous religion. I will embrace him or her regardless what colour he or she is from.

Yes, beliefs divides us. Otherwise, I guess we should all be embracing Nazism and respect their beliefs to wanna gas jews.

And you would have to call yourself a racist in the future, if we go by this dude's definition. For being anti-Nazis.
