Waking up to discover some fake has placed your fake profile on his fake profile's favorites list..... priceless!

Just to clarify some misconceptions, once you add someone to your favorites they do not get bumped off no matter how many other people you add.  However, the list on the left side of the homepage only shows you the 20 users from your favorites who most recently visited the site (if you hover the mouse over any of the names, you can see when they were last on).

We put a lot of work into a new version of the homepage which allows you to see your entire favorites, admirers, blocked, or hidden lists in place of the main list at the click of a button but users found it to be too confusing and we are currently evaluating alternative approaches.  In the mean time, for any given user, you can view/modify their status on your favorites/blocked/hidden lists from the "View Full Profile" page.  This isn't a replacement for a full list but it's something many users don't realize.

Interesting thread, and not just the OP....  I have a few thoughts AND some questions of my own.

Firstly, my list is just that - MINE - hence I neither ask nor expect to hafta ask the target's permission.  But, though it's never happened to me, they're welcome to stamp their foot all they want.  It's hardly a matter of manners or invading privacy when all I've done is add a web page FROM A PUBLIC SITE to my personal favourites.  It's totally my business, no-one elses!

I add people for various reasons, including some I have no intention of contacting anyway.  For instance, they may be my ideal match (at least as far as the profile goes) but they live on the other side of the world, but I keep it out of interest....  Who knows, a year later she may be living just down the road.  Or it may be another Dom/me who may be of interest to a sub friend and I want to be able to find the profile readily etc....  And still it's all *MY* business only!

Though I've been a member for several years now, there's a lot about this site I still don't get.  I can only imagine I've never been added to anyone's favoutites, but exactly how does one know?  I can't say as I've seen any particular notification etc....  ???

But I'm always proud that I've never blocked anyone; even when mail gets nasty I rather enjoy "staring them down".... lol  And here's one for those who remember the obnoxious Jaques and his bizarre behaviour in the Forums a year or so ago.  No sooner would he publically offend someone and they'd respond in kind, that he'd then contact them by private mail and simultaneously block them.  This goes to the excellent feature on CM that lets you know when someone has read your mail in the "Sent Mail" folder.  When my turn came to receive mail from Jaques, I made good use of that feature by never opening his mail; I just let it sit there....  He had several digs at me in the Forums in trying to goad me into reading it but I was never gonna empower him by doing that.  When he finally imploded (through creating a second fem/sub profile to quote and counter-quote in the Forums), I deleted it unopened....

But I'm really a nice fella - am I on no-one's favourites????

Focus.

rudeness is becoming a more and more common thing seen nowadays, whether it be from dominants or submissives.  Sadly, it seems to be creeping its way inexorably into the culture because it is accepted by so many...not only those on the receiving end who, instead of fighting it just decide "Oh well, this is the way it is" to those on the giving end, who often use "This is the real me...and if you can't handle that, you're the one with a problem.  I refuse to use an insincere veneer of courtesy when I don't even know you" as their reasoning behind their behavior.

You fight it and then you are called childish, immature, have gone down to their level, etc. You don't fight it, then you've no backbone, not dom enough, etc.

A place to learn.  Thanks for the information.  I would like to be aware when I am added to someone's favorites.  I am glad to read that that will happen.  Will it happen?  I did not know that there was an implact to the people that I added.  Is there a limit to the number of people that can be listed as favorites.  Fascinating concept.  I add people to my favorite list who a find interesting.

General wisdom:

I had an uncle oscar who dropped dead in a snowbank in balta, north dakota in 1942, first I heard of it, I thought it was an epidemic, there was no way you was gonna catch me in a snowbank, I moved out to california.....

Oh, go ahead and laugh, it wasn't your uncle, you don't care.

Hope this helps somebody,
Ron

At first I will admit to adding and returning later to the profile.  If, however, that person does not suit, I immediately delete them from Favorites.  I also have to say it is horrifying to see those out there that simply send trollers out.  Form letters drive Me insane.  I ended up on so many Favorite lists it was nerve wracking.  However when I wrote to ask for removal ... the slaves were very good and removed Me.  It is at that point that I tend to invite them to chat on an offsite program.  I look for those that at least send Me a note first BEFORE adding My ID to their favorites.  So that idea was  a sound one deserving of a repeat *lol* ... Lord I'm tired.  Never post when you're tired ...

I use my 'Favourites' as a sort of bookmark list for people that I might get around to contacting one of these days.  If any of them take offense to seeing me on their 'Admirers' list and want to make that displeasure known, fine.  It's one less wasted email to write.

As for people who 'Admire' me without my prior permission?  Go for it!!!  Come in your droves!!!  Marvel at my magnificence!!!  (and feed my ever-ravenous ego!)

I just checked, and since not a goddamn one of you admires me, I am blocking all you people.

Ungraciously,
Never you mind 'cause you are blocked!!!!!!

I am absolutely amazed at the so-called dominants who get offended by a sub or slave adding them to their favorites.
I rejoined this community after a 6 month hiatus and now I am beginning to remember why I left all those months ago.
Today was a lazy Saturday, another storm running through St. Louis. So, I decided to read profiles. I read many of them and everytime that I ran across one that was particularly interesting, I would add it to my favorites. I added 7 people to my favorites, 3 subs and 4 dominants. My thinking was that I could go back and re-read them another time and maybe muster the courage to write a few emails.
Now, I am not here to find my soul-mate or life partner. My profile clearly states that I am just here to make friends and have some intellectual conversations. I am long time member of the d/s sub-culture. I found d/s when I was 22 and I will soon be 40. So, let's not count the actual years. Of course, I feel most comfortable on d/s sites, discussing d/s and bdsm related topics. Oops didn't mean to digress. Anyway, all three of the submissives (2 ladies and 1 male) wrote very nice letters of introduction, after noticing that I added them to my favorites. Two very nasty wannabee male dominants wrote to berate me for not asking their permission before adding their name to my favorites list. Is this what d/s has come to? Have dominants become this insecure? Are manners now reserved for submissives? Can someone please shed some light on this matter?
To end on a positive note, it looks like I am on my way to making three new friends. Thank goodness for subbies.

I treat the favourites list like book marks. Maybe I see someone who is interesting who I might want to have a conversation with and so I flag them for my favourites list. That way I can find them easily later and not forget about them. I don't know if there is a better way to do that other than keeping my text editor open to a file with a list of people I want to write to.
