What types of Safe words do you use. Do they relate to Your
Personality?
Did you get a choice?
Was it part of Your name?
How often do You use them~

k2y ...

I think I met your brother once ... y2k ??? But it was almost 5 years ago. And I think I knew you when you were younger. But you were just known as ky then .....

I've found the best method isn't safewords (which are often used only when limits have been exceeded) but to use green, yellow, and red as a way to express where you're at in a scene.

I have always mantained the primary safeword "Addis Abiba" as a means of indicating that things have gone too far and I no longer consent to this activity. (Why Addis Abiba? How often does the capital of ethiopia come up as part of a scene? The non sequitur value, in my mind, far exceeds the standard forms such as "red" or "mercy", which might be overlooked in a moment of passion)

I have played with people who use the various conditional safewords such as red, green, pink, and yellow. Personally, it's just too many variables for me to keep track of. One to speed up, one to slow down, one to warn of emotional problems, one for physical problems, and another for I'm not so sure about this. Feh. Just flipping tell me what's on your mind, and we'll deal with it from there. IF you trust me enough to let me tie you up, trust me enough to believe that I can competently help you work through whatever the problem is without breaking the scene.

I must say that while I have always played with safewords in place, I have never used mine, and of all the years I've been playing, I've only had the scene stopped three times - twice by my wife, for legitimate reasons pertaining to the form of bondage I'd had her in and how her body was not coping with it, and once by a nice young lady who suddenly, in mid scene, realised how much I resembled her father, which just added too much yick factor to what we were doing.

Think of my verbosity as a sort of litmus test for our relationship. I write in a manner identical to how I speak and how I think. If you can not cope with what I have written here, it is probably for the best if we go our separate ways.

Yeah ... if I imagined topping my Dad I would have to yell Addis Abiba too

My version of a Safe Word is a word for a Sub to use when he/she can't take anymore. After all a Dom does need repect for the Sub/Slave. After all it's the Sub that has intrusted you with there entire body among other things.

The safe word does mean "STOP!" On the other hand it's also the version of Orgasim in the submissions state of mind. Weither the sub physically has an orgasim or not is irrelevent. It's still a state of mind and means that they have reached there ultimate high. Givem a break for having them pass out isn't alway fun.

Sure subs/slave may say "no no please stop" "don't Stop" But it's the safe word that means it's time to give him/her a break. If they are bound, that's when you release them quickly and hold them tight earning more trust while also stregthening your bond and possilbly cause things to incline to another level.

As for what kind of word the safe word shoud be, I'd suggest something odd and wierd that throws of Dom off guard.
For example, in my first story I posted to this sight I used the word "Pagan Carebear" as a safe word. Imagin yourself having vanilla sex and your partner starts sreaming out "Pagan Carebare" Wouldn't that kinda upset the mood and cause a pause? That's what you want he safe word to be. Something that makes the Dom go "what the hell" and realize it's time to stop and begin soothing the sub. Besides soothing is nice and cruel. I myself massage the bodies of subs with lotion. But is that really being nice? HELL NO! I like keeping there skin soft and muscles relaxed so that there bodies don't toughin up to my beatings

Anyways I hope that in the creative writting section, ppl start having the subs/slaves use safe words. I like to know what ppl come up with and it's what I'm always looking for when reading the stories.

I have been given lots of them through the years, but *stop* would always work, 'cause if I ever said it, the dominant would know there is a problem. I'm just not the type to say that :)

Of course, if someone is inflicting pain, they know I will either ignore it as much as possible, since I don't like pain, or curse them out under my breath or in my mind 'cause, well, like I said, I don't like pain.

I've never been much into using safe words. Currently I don't have one.

Red, yellow and green seem to be the best. Most universal. A safe word needs to be something that can be simple yet remembered at the time in which you need it.
Something a bit off the beaten track of normal words for you.
The adidas one, well in my opinion the safe word would never be uttered. Because while panicking a bit, how are we going to remember it?

Just my opinion of course.

I use "red"

Though use is probablya bad term 'cause I never have. To us, that means "I am HURT and bad things are happening"

My partner knows how to read my reactions well enough to judge when to slow down or back off.

Mmmm sounds very familar. lol But in answer to the question. "Red" and "stop" seemed the most feasible.

Take care,

Yes I have a safe word, no I have never used it because when I need Master to be aware that something is going wrong, I start cussing like a sailor. I have never been good with safe words, and I honestly don't think that I have ever used the predetermined word with anyone.

Is this a good way of doing it? I don't know and/or probably not.

I don't have a safeword. Two of my rules are: "'NO' is not a word with Master" and "'STOP' is not a word with Master." But I don't need a safeword, because he knows me well enough to not push me further than I can handle.
However, I recently had a conversation with him about, when we find a girl for me to top, I'd like to use the standard (red, yellow) safewords with her, because it's not in my nature to *actually* hurt someone, so I want to make sure I don't do that. He agrees with that.

What types of Safe words do you use? Uses 'dingo'.. have used it for 15 years in both the nilla and lifestyle and it takes no thought to what it is if necessary
Do they relate to Your Personality? lol...not really... i think i got it after watching the discovery channel one nightDid you get a choice? at the time was in a nilla relationship that had some kinks, so it was my choice to set up a 'stop' word
Was it part of Your name? no
How often do You use them? Have used with Less-than-experienced Dominants, or the first time scening with a Dominant (when He may be exploring my true limits), or with a Dominant/Sadist who may prefer to train in 'over the edge' techniques.

*laughs thinking how many times the only word out of my mouth was only 'please?' as entering subspace... even when mentally i couldn't decide if i wanted it to stop or get more intense; but in saying only 'please?' and not 'dingo', my Master makes the decision to how far He wants to push my body to the edge (or over).

Master knows my limits very well. He is quite attentive and pays close attention to the effects His actions have upon me emotionally as well as physically. There have been only a few rare occasions when we have needed them & any combination of the following 'safe words' have been found to work best: Owww !! my ankle/wrist ! Fuck! Cuff/rope/chain/clip/clamp is fucking digging/twisting/pinching into my ankle/wrist/leg/arm etc ... arrrrrggg ... shit. God! OWW, fuck. Damn. NO no no! The other one, please. Yes! Thank You, Master.

Personality?
Yes, i tend to do very well in communicating quite clearly to my Master when something is causing pain that He has not intended to, or not been able to foresee to cause me 'inappropriate pain. He appreciates and demands it.
quote:

Did you get a choice?
The words are pretty much chosen randomly according to the level of unplanned pain i may receive at any given moment.

Was it part of Your name?
Nope.

As safe words, not very often. Thanks to a very loving and attentive Master, i've hardly been given any reason to. HOWEVER, in heavy rush hour traffic .. i'll admit that i tend to overuse the words, 'fuck, shit, NO, Yes, and God, & damn' quite often, although rarely all in one breath.

What types of Safe words do you use? i think me and Master started off with something unrelated like "artichoke" or "avacado", i remember it started with an "a". We eventually switched to red and yellow, they are well known so they could be used in public play, too.
Do they relate to Your Personality? Nope
Was it part of Your name? Nope
How often do You use them? i have only "yellowed" twice, once quite legitimately because of a bondage issue (low blood pressure, i was about to pass out from hands over my head); once because i was breathing all wrong and got panicky - not in good headspace!. i've never said red. i have thought about yellow many more times but i would have felt like a "wimp". That's probably not very healthy, is it?

Master and I are both fluent in German, thou it's not a language we use every day, week, or even month. Only when the need arises...

Soooooo.... since it's out of the norm for me to speak German outside of a social setting with others... My safeword is a german word...

beth uses; "can't you see the bone sticking through the skin?" but rarely.

I've never gotten an answer from anyone yet for this question. If I did, maybe I could understand the 'safe-word' concept.

Even under a Dom/sub versus Master/slave relationship, sessions usually have a goal of achieving inner peace, satisfaction and catharsis, an almost total transcendental emotional state, some label it 'sub-space'. If 'sub-space' is defined as this TOTAL giving, TOTAL release, TOTAL mental and emotional commitment to the experience; how do you reconcile keeping one part of your brain focused on a 'safe-word'?
