I have no idea what the party line on H1B visas are. Haven't heard the Dems say anything specifically about them.

I don't think a high paying job should be given to an immigrant if there is an American capable of doing it. That seems to be in line with Canadian immigration policy. Of course, if the company or industry is facing a serious void, qualified immigrants should absolutely fill the position(s).
