truesub... you said those who plainly state they are here just for chat and forums should be lauded for being honerst, they shouldn't be flamed (the flamers are a-holes themselves!)

I wear my heart on my sleeve and always appreciate those who do too. I do despise fakers and bs artists (may they choke on their prolapsed hemorrhoids!)...

Darn!! you mean to say I have to reveal all my shortcomings in my profile!..You mean to say I have to inform the poor innocent Dominent of what it is he might find distasteful about me. You mean to say that a profile is lacking because I do not inform said Dominant that I am an ugly, crazy, chain smoking, fat, cross eyed, intellectually challenged submissive? Is this what all submissive profiles should read? You mean to say I need to make it easy for said Dominants to weed me out as undesireable?..well shoot! thats no fun!!!...Tempting

TEMPT!... I didn't know I had a twin onCM!...[sm=biggrin.gif][sm=biggrin.gif]

Well ,Well,Well, here we go again am now thinking you me and Level are possibly triplets!..though Level has decided he and I are conjoined..humm..maybe its you who is hogging the brain .....bad True..bad bad..[sm=idea.gif]...Tempting

Or people who complain about the people who complain about the people who post negatively?

And I'm about to complicate the issue:

I am the person who complains about the person questioning the complaining about complaining about the complaining about complaining about fakes on the site.

And I'm sure someone will complain about me.

Yours,

benji

Yeah I'm here to complain about benji cause he gave me a headache.

Bad little puppy! No cookie!

One more person with less than ten posts and it is a complaint about profiles and the people on this site.  This dissertation is going to be great.

If you do not like what you are reading in the profiles, stop reading them.

BTW. . . my profile does not say anything like that.

While I agree that as a first post it's much the same problem as a profile- the point still stands true IMO.  A profile that starts with long lists of "Don't even think of x y or z" or "I'm so sick of x y and z" is generally a big turn off OR a huge "I'm completely ready to be taken advantage of by someone who can commisserate with me"

I find positivity and just general information a much more desireable profile.

Nosathro -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 12:52:53 PM)

greetings

I will say my profile right now is very negative.  I did have a positive profile once, got some nice commiments about it as well.  I included some recent photos of myself as well.  I changed it because of the response I got, "wannabes" "unhappy wives", "players" no one serious.  Then I got some rather ugly messages and I believe someone is spreading nasty rumors about me.  So it is now negative no pictures nothing..maybe one day I will change it to a more positive profile but for now it stays the way it is.

I wish you well

Nosathro

I'd prefer it, to an undending laundry list that no one short of a movie charachter could possibly hope to fill.[;)]

windchymes -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 1:02:40 PM)

When I see a profile that starts out scolding and berating first-time readers for something they haven't even done yet, I think they have more issues and baggage than I want to deal with, and I move on.

Homestead -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 1:07:07 PM)

The laundry list ones express even more baggage to me. No matter how positively they may try to frame it. I lose interest in them immediately..I'd like to be judged as a person, not a collection of attributes.

I'm astounded by the number of profiles that begin with the sentences 'Im sick of timewasters, sick of nobody understanding me, where are all the polite/decent/ worthwhile people out there'

Has it EVER occured to anyone concocting these profiles that there is no bigger turn off to a potential viewer than a stream of self-pitying dialogue as an introductory statement?

I agree with those who have already suggested that the approach is likely to be counter-productive in terms of impressing many readers, due to the inherent negativity.  However, my suspicion is that in concocting such profiles people are more focused on writing a deterent to those they don't want than attracting those that they might.

It would be interesting to know from anyone who has constructed and used such a 'warning off' profile whether it even has the desired effect in preventing unwanted contacts, or whether it continues to attract 'more of the same'....  The thing is....so many people go on about 'wannabes' and 'fakes', and there are probably plenty of people out there deliberately playing games, but sometimes it is probaby a case of people thinking they want more than they can face, getting involved in an intesity that can't be supported for any length of time, enjoying the phase of discovery but not interested when the communication ceases to be new....etc etc...

For myself, I have bundles of negativity to share on all sorts of different fronts, although not so much on the keep-away-from-me-you-inappropriate-people-front.  I see it as only reasonable to at least hint at some of that in my profile so that people aren't expecting a shiny happy people person.

I hasten to add, I was not referring specifically to THIS SITE when I posten original message..though there does seem to have been a defensive response from site users.

In my experience, people saying they have no time for x y an z, usually means they have been messed about but have not taken the experience as an opportunity for learning, but more as an experience to moan about. Which is immensely undesirable.

Homestead -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 2:05:30 PM)

It's only reasonable to try to share misery with people of compatable bents.

After all, two liberals will have more fun whining about republicans together. [;)]

aleshaDreams -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 2:27:32 PM)

okay again i guess i missed the intent of the complaint being on portraying negativity forefront in a profile and such; my apologies.  And in such i would have to agree that it does not seem as good practice, however i have read some profiles as such and reading beyond the first sentence or paragraph of a select few there usually is a reason explaining why the profile started out as such.

Regardless, i don't see a big issue with that either, but then again i have a hard time putting everyone in the same box too.

Do i have to send you to your own complaint thread benji???

But honestly I dont get some of these complaints but then again Iv done my fair share of it!!

swtnsparkling -> RE: Miserable profiles (7/30/2006 3:36:49 PM)

Perhaps they don't want to attract anyone. Not everyone on collarme is looking for a mate. I don't think any one has to spell it out to you or anyone else a blank profile should give one the hint -  if a Profile is blank dont think their advertising

Oh, nw, it's by far not only on this site, I've seen similar rants in all the major vanilla dating sites, too.  There are just people out there who have not reached the maturity level to realize that searching for something online is (usually) a long procedure which takes a lot of patience.  Unfortunately, when they don't get what they want, rather than patiently persevere, they basically throw a verbal tantrum, thinking they're punishing those who they perceive "did them wrong" and "wasted their time" (because no else's time is as valuable as theirs is!).

These same people probably deal with frustration with tantrums in other aspects of their lives, too.

Ok let's get this right.. I never  said  SHOULD... I said usually are. There was a thread on this  before. Sub/slaves being already owned... shouldn't be on CM to begin with. ... I didn't agree then...and do not now. I think owned or single should be on here.. learning from all... laughing with all... etc...

So let's get the right ...before I'm flamed again... LOL
