If you were SCC this couldn't happen so I have no idea what you are talking about.  SCC prevents all problems and only relationships without SCC have problems.

Perhaps you should get a collar of protection now...

You know,  you really should write a book....or maybe have an advice column. You have a gift and your talents, while very much appreciated here, are far greater than the platform.

Erin,

It may surpise many here but I am at times quite modest.  I have thought about writing a "how I got here" sort of book along the lines of a sort of journal but there just isn't enough meat, too much of it is mental and doesn't fit the classic profile of things.

Well I for one would be standing in line for you to autograph my copy at your first book signing. I have a feeling that a book from you would run me through the gamut of emotions from "Awww" to "Wow".

I work in a hospital laboratory, and over the weekend, we had workups on an ER patient whose admitting chief complaint was "Held Hostage 3 Days".  It made me wonder.........

I think one should have a contract & get it Notarized... Now before you get all riled up you need to understand that a Notary is NOT notarizing the contract but just the individuals signatures on it so there's no need for them to read it... All you need to have is a cover page basically saying this is a Contract between A & B , then a blaze' index page listing the sub-divisions of the contract... Also the Notary seal goes on the back page so if you go in & just flip it open to the back pages  more than likely their not going to try to read it... If they do try to read it, tell them it's a top secret Business contract be courteous but remind them you're only there to have them notarize your signatures... If they insist on trying to read it tell them you'll find another notary, Be Polite but Firm...
Have 3 Copies of the  document one for each party & one to be held by a Neutral Party....
It May not hold for much in a court of  law but it would at least show consent...

Actually, having a contract can be a horrible idea. You may think it shows consent but it can also show authorities that you are practicing in possible illegal activities. And yes, BDSM activities are illegal in some states. Thus, the moment that contract gets out, you get locked up. For instance, in Colorado flogging can be considered assault. If the police are called to your home and they see marks left by a "session", your going to be in cuffs faster then you can say "But, but, but". They don't need your sub to press charges either, once your in custody, the DA presses the charges forward. Now, you can pullout your little contract and scream "Consent!! Consent!!" all you want but that document can be used against you as much as for you.

We're you trying to say SSC?  Even so, actually the scenerio at hand could have been Safe, Sane and Consentual and still happened.  Mental health knows no boundries.

Why would one get into a relationship with someone who was psycho to begin with?

When i left my first r/l dom he didn't believe me that Hubby had found out and he stalked me and threatened me online and by phone for months. He also told me he had herpes, which turned out to be a lie, he admitted he said it so i wouldn't be with anyone else. He had  fallen in love with me and was very jealous. Fortunately he moved out of the country or i'm sure there would of been some real time stalking.

Lemme get an "Amen!" for Theslavetrainer.  There is no such thing as 'consensual abuse' in my state or any others I know of.  Put that contract in the hands of an ambitious DA and he has evidence to add 'conspiracy' to whatever else he's throwing at you.

All those instructions probably sounded good in a chatroom though....

Oh maaaan.  The pain that thought invokes.  Try borderline personalities, Rich...they are the BEST!

But actually this atrocious thread with its pretension and bad advice deserves this*...made me laugh.

*(Exception for CrappyDom and his "followers" -- that made me laugh too).

I haven't experienced this, but a variant of it did happen to two friends of mine on this site. It didn't get to the point where the police were called but there was very bitter harrassment here and on the phone. It looks like the creep has now (FINALLY!!!) been removed from this site for good. Never know, though. He might try to sneak back in again with profile/identity #5.

Define Safe Sane and Consensual.

A peppy mantra—or a signed agreement, for that matter—is no replacement for sound judgement, good instinct, shrewd contingencies and a broader understanding of human nature.

Well, since the asshole took it one step further than all that was said above.....he actually broke into my home in the middle of the night.....and while i was there.  I shot him.
He  had a restraining order, he violated that numerous times...i went to the police several times and told them quite blankly:  he enters my home, he will be shot.  I followed through with that.   He spent 4 months in jail.  (this was in 1980)

~smilezz~

Good for you. When the police fail, we have to be our own police.

yes i agree contracts are vital. .... Besides a law suit, what else would You suggest?

First, there's no such thing as a "legal" M/s contract in this country; they're literally not worth the paper they're printed on or the ink with which they were signed.

Second, don't get mad, get even..

i had one relationship go really sour, with threats of "public disclosure", ie posting some pics i'd foolishly sent him.  i responded by #1, saying "you silly man, if it floats your boat, go for it"...he hated being called a "silly man" -- it hit him right in his "domly pride"..lol.

Second, i wondered aloud what the local Bar association and/or PTA would think of the pics he sent me of his "future" wife wearing a duct tape gag and little else;

Third, i sent her a copy of my email to him.

Funny thing, i never heard from him again..<grins>

cheers,
jimini

Not in My experience.  I lived with one girl who was as looney tunes as I think they get (unfortunately I did not know this at first).  She stalked Me for a year after I dropped her off at home and told her thanks but no thanks.  Anyways, she was crappy in bed.  She did anything I wanted though, so I fed it to her any way I could, but let Me tell you, I think a bump on a log had more sexual energy than she did.
