Fundamentalist Flashbacks - 8/3/2006 4:06:07 PM

Status: offline 		        Among the many belief systems I had rammed down my throat during those formative years, I got several big doses of fundamentalist/evangelical/charismatic Christianity.  I left most of it behind me but the whole "Armageddon" thing seems to have stuck.

       Am I the only one getting a bit weirded out watching the news these days?

Part of the Armageddon prophecy has to do with Damascus falling. It's supposed to signal the fire on high burning off the surface of the earth.

No one really had a clue of how that might happen-until 1945.

If this subject really is worrying anyone, its worth remembering that almost all religions have a day of reckoning but that the portents of doom they have are not exactly as the bible relates, and given that the last book in the bible shows signs of severe psychosis in the imagery and language used, its unlikely to be reliable as a guide to the end of the world.
