The neck is an appendage constantly seeking its ideal accessory The neck tie might be a more traditional option but variations on it and alternatives to it abound. I’ve been to embassies, galas, award ceremonies never once feeling the need to circumnavigate my collar with a neck belt. I’ve also been to job interviews without one but then again I was hiring.

Regardless of what constitutes appropriate neckwear there is one fact rarely mentioned in this geriatric thread. The Domme in question was offered by the sub in question reservations to an upscale restaurant and the Domme refused, preferring a more “casual” eatery. The sub then dressed in a manner appropriate to Her choice. When they arrived at the restaurant the Domme had chosen they found it closed. Yes dear readers the plot twists and the tension mounts as our two heroes face a monumental decision…what will they do??

Here is the quote from this much maligned man written on December 18th 2004 (for God’s sake).

I think a more detailed account of the events leading up to this incident would be appropriate.

After e-mails were exchanged and a telephone conversation, it was decided that a meeting would be appropriate. A mutually agreed upon time was established. Mistress requested that I select a location to meet over drinks. I suggested three locations that I was aware of that I thought would be convenient to Mistress. Two of the locations are similar in level of ambience and the third a location I was not personally familiar with, but had heard good reviews about. Mistress' response to the two similar venues owned by the same proprietors, and I quote verbatum, " I usually suggest less opulent places", which of course is fine to me. Mistress further suggested a rather casual establishment which most patrons attend in jeans and sneakers, and another establishment upscale, although not to the level of the two I suggested but rather nice which I was not sure I had been to before. We settled on this last venue.

With the plan in mind of meeting at this venue, I decided to wear something I thought appropriate for the location. Had we gone to either of the two places I suggested, I would have worn a suit with a tie, although the policy of both establishments is jackets required, tie optional. Based on Mistress' suggestion of a more casual place, I thought it prudent to wear something more toned down.” End quote.

Isn’t it fascinating how real life manages to weave such intricate, morally charged, and complex adventures. Sigh!!. Not.

Which is the greater sin. Dressing up in a casual environment or dressing down in a formal environment. hmm.

There you are pleasure machine. Mistress Lorelei wasn’t mean now was she? You however with your little quote on Mistress Lorelei “Who really has class here and who doesn't” were. Naughty.

I'm often asked why I do not attend the Houston munches or group activities and you nailed that issue on the head. Their group appearance denotes a laissez faire kind of inherent sloppiness that I abhor. Attending the 'Cave' and watching sloppy lower middle class blokes bare their ladyfriend's breasts and cover them with paint and beer is hardly My idea of great camraderie. Even at the group meetings, the "Dommes" attend in jeans. To each their own, but I pass, until I can find something a bit more sophisticated in "these here parts".

Not to sound crass, but I would never need to attend a job interview, as I've been self-employed for the last seventeen years and will retire before fifty. So your question is moot. However... if you decide to do the suit and tie thing for your next interview... I hope it strikes a chord with the interviewer.

I could take my ass up to Saks and find a cashmere sports coat and hand-made shirt that would trump any suit and tie combination that you would find the average folk wearing in some restaurant. Uptown, welcome to the message boards for your first post. You write well and I hope to see more of your contributions here.

You say Mistress Lorelei "wasn't mean now wash she?" but that I was "naughty" for saying "Who really has class here and who doesn't." Mistress Lorelei herself was shocked, shocked that I would say such a thing about another person.

Of course, I was mirroring exactly what Mistress Lorelei had just said:

"She was so offended by his lack of neckwear, yet she wasn't offended enough to dine with, and eat the expensive food paid for by the offender.

"Anyone can wear a tie... class can't be worn by anyone."

I've already explained what my problem is with Mistress Lorelei's comments, I don't need to explain it again. But how is it that I'm naughty and she isn't?

Now as to your point about the circumstances of the restaurant, I see that the submissive, when he decided what to wear, thought he was going to go to "another establishment upscale ... With the plan in mind of meeting at this venue, I decided to wear something I thought appropriate for the location."

Fair enough. I'd call it a minor mistake on his part to risk dressing too casual. I still say it's better to risk overdressing for a first meeting with a Domme at an "upscale restaurant" though. The OP didn't say that this was the only reason she didn't have a second meeting with the submissive. She did say she found it off-putting. To me that also seems fair. You may disagree with her, but it doesn't sound like a reason to impugn her character -- unless you're Mistress Lorelei, in which case it does seem like a reason to impugn the OP's character.

What's your opinion, Uptown? If I need grease, doesn't Mistress Lorelei need it too?

Now as to what to wear to embassy functions, I leave that to your capable hands. I'm just a poor, backstreet, downtown guy,

Well, at least you didn't sound crass.

I'm sure a successful, well-off guy like yourself can afford to look great without a tie. I'd say "more power to ya" but looks like you already have it. Not being as successful and well off as yourself, I just rely on showing respect to a Domme in my humble, average folk way.

You know, between Uptown's embassy functions and his job hiring others and your retiring before 50 with your own business, I'm just convinced that I've been too narrow minded all this time. I think you guys must know what you're doing. I'll tell you what: You keep on going tieless and attracting Dommes that are attracted to your ways of presenting your stupendous selves and I'll try my way with Dommes that are attracted to my humbler but more formal way of presenting myself, and I think it will all work out just fine. Yes... welcome to the boards uptown.... a perfect first post in My 'classless' opinion. It made Me smile to see you here, arguing in My defense. you are proof that class, common sense and good looks are not housed in a neck tie. Besides, I will find a submissive wearing a chastity device to be far more appropriately dressed than one wearing a tie any day. <smiles>

Bet. We're all friendly here, we just disagree.

I think it all comes down to the way evaluate things.

What immediately pops into your mind when you think of a suit and tie?

The very first thing that pops into my mind.... is all the liars, cheats, crooks and phony politicians we have in both the Whitehouse and Washington DC. - And yes, contrary to popular belief... I think they're far worse than Gotti , Scarfo and Gigante all of whom wear sport coats.

The next thing would be all the Mormons, Jehovah ’s Witness' and a whole host of other zealots who walk around, knock on people's doors and bother them by preaching religion.

The third example would be a tie{pun intended} for the cast of characters in the ''West Wing'' and the whole non-reality based show called the ''Apprentice'' where people like to watch Trump fire his minions.

Now... Do you see where my cynical nature comes from?
