Today i realized my 12 yr old unmentionable knows how to push my buttons in a way that one of us may kill the other, if we dont some how start to work on it,
I can definatly see how there is a fine line there and I can also see why for most of my teen years my mother disliked me

oh god, I honestly don't know how right now.......every single thing with this boy is a fight............and my husband keeps telling me he has me wrapped around his finger and I always give into him, but thats a load of crap what can i do? Gina,

My children are grown, I had many problems with them once they hit a certain age, my biggest problem was getting them to see they needed help, and once they hit 16 despite the fact they are minor they can reject getting help. It happened with my two oldest. All you can do is love them uncondtionally and try your best to keep them safe. And this is only based on what has happened to me and mine. It isnt advise but just my opinion as a mother..

Today I learned that I cannot tell the unmentionables and their friend who slept over last night to use the blankets on the hall railing when I had already moved the blankets to an empty room for packing, because they will use my drapes (which were hanging on the hall railing, waiting to be packed) as blankets instead...

This must be a test...

today i learned again you really can't go home again (figuratively) and that there truly is no place like home.

to gina: near teen and early teen years are a biotch to parent, but they do still have moments of sweetness. a solid early start goes further than you might think. one of mine (13) really tests me at times, but at others reflects her genuine loving nature. it's all part of being that age and finding limits and how to be their own person. you share tears with moms the world over.

Ok, why? Why would you love someone unconditionally if they cause you so much pain and heartache? Because you gave birth to them is not an answer to me. And, since we are talking about unconditional love, what about their love for you? Do you expect them to love you unconditionally too? Simply because you carried them for 9 months and then gave birth to them? I say hogwash. They owe you nothing. You owe them the opportunity to be raised in a safe home with hopefully sane parents, who will guide them and nourish them to adulthood. Hopefully not heaping all of your past bullshit and baggage upon them, to the point of making them afraid to venture out on their own.

You have a good point there, my thought on unconditional love is this.
They are of your blood you are the parent or the child. We all mess up and alot of time we just dont like each other, sometimes yes we hate each other.

But this does not take away that inheritently we so love them no matter what
to me that in itself is unconditional.

No matter what we do or dont do, or how parents mess uo or how your child messes up it happens.

I dont happen to like my middle child, but I do love him, even when he messes up his life
he is now 26.

But as always that is just MY opinion.
