TNbear,

It's just life isn't it. Walk into a pub or a restaurant and some people will notice you and others won't. There is something about our mannerisms and the way we act that sub-consciously makes others instinctively know if they want to communicate with us - just the way it goes.

If I were you, I wouldn't try and contact anyone - you're better off just making a few posts on here, building up a rapport with a few posters and then contact them based on the fact you have common ground to get a conversation going.

Regards

Kedikat -> RE: Why? (8/5/2006 1:20:06 PM)

What I hate is the ones who demand  impressive, mesmerizing, exciting emails only, if you wish to contact them.

Yeah sure, I'm going to pour my heart and soul into it for the first contact. Of course they will take the time to make a detailed reply as well.[;)]  I find the reply rate is about the same if I just send a " Hello, liked your profile, we may have some common ground. Check mine out and reply if you like, we can chat. " or a long in depth one.

It's also interesting that some think you are not real if you don't do the whole Dom routine right off the bat, others think you are not real if you do.

Bear, I agree with you, a minimum politeness and correctness would be to reply something even if they are not interested. However you have a good attitude, if they don't reply they are the ones missing out, they are not worth anymore of your thoughts.
As to why....I think many answered that question already.

There is absolutely nothing within the realms of politeness and certainly not correctness which suggest that one has ANY obligation to return the solicitations of a complete stranger in an email format.

If you want to be grateful for the ones who actually respond, then do so.  But don't put the onus on the other person for responding to YOUR actions where none exists.

I guess it's an irk of mine- people feeling they are obligated to a response.  Why?  Because YOU decide you want to write a stranger an email, that stranger SHOULD send you something back?  Hardly.

Why is it that you send someone an email they read it, but do not respond back. I like to think that we are all adult here and can handle someone saying that they are not interested. Is it really that big of a deal?

Bear

Yes!!  Its a MASSIVELY big deal.

which is why you're complaining about it in a thread! ha ha good game!!

And to answer the other question.  They do not respond back because they do not want too.  Kind of like the dopes who've emailed me.  Cos i dun WANT to email them back.  AND, if der really adults.  Suppose they could take the lump and deal with it.....

Ooo. . . oo. ..  I just love this. . . I am writting a dissertation on it ya know. . .

Why I do not respond to an email. . .

This is kind of like "What I did on my summer vacation. . ."

Well, my big reason is that I have nothing to say.

Nope, nada.

Also, I may be tired, I may be too cranky, I may be doing something else.  You see, my YIM lets me know when I have messages, and so I pop over and read them.  But I also might be making a post and would rather make a post that reply.  Or I might be on a phone call and I am multi-tasking, and typing requires two hands, whereas the mouse only needs one.

BTW I have not gotten an email from you.

Pretty much exactly what I was going to say.  Sometimes you just have time to read now answer later, or you want to wait to a time where you can think clearly about your response...people do this to me all the time...I think nothing of it...actually I'd rather wait and have an intelligent response instead of something hastly typed or something that drips with attitude, not because of me, but because they have had a bad day.

Also, if I get no response, fine with me, they were not for me anyway.

One other thing...what did "you" send?  Was it respectful?  Could it in any way been taken wrong?    Or did you send the famous one word or one sentence emails...such as "hello"  and that's all?

Personally, I don't respond to those much, unless I'm bored and just want to see where it goes, then all I get is more one worders back and forth, then I tell them that this is not messenger and to please send only emails here, of course they disappear, oh well...I feel if they don't care enough to write a proper email...why should I take the time to respond?

Is there some time limit in your life for replying? It's an email, not someone on hold on the phone. I do or do not reply depending on how ridiculous the situation of it is. I reply with thanks, or thanks but no thanks, to most. But then I am male and the mailbox is less cluttered :)

When you are female and send this response, at least 1/3rd to 1/2 will write back, again, and ask a follow up question, like "may I ask why?"  If you respond to that, they will write again.   You open a dialog and then they WILL keep writing to you until you do what you should have done in the first place -- not reply at all.

Some people only have 10 - 15 minutes to check emails and respond.  They would rather be writing to those that spark their interest than sending out a dozen "thanks, but no thanks" emails.  Also, when women are online answering emails, often they start receiving more emails than they have gone through.  Just being online gets you slammed with one-liners and form letters.

Is this a notice me and please email me thread?

Just curious, for the dissertation, ya know. . .

Hmmmm.

Being noticed is typically good, unless one is involved in an activity for which notice might bring some form of doom, in which case notice would be bad.

Getting a new message is also typically good, but unlike being noticed it's less likely to cause trouble if you're in the middle of a felony.

So ... uh ... I have no point.

Don't notice me.

SirKenin -> RE: Why? (8/5/2006 8:28:26 PM)

I do not understand why someone would even care if someone responds to their emails or not.  Do they not have a life?  I do not see the obligation there.  If they do not want to respond to you, so what?  Go find someone else to write to.  There are lots of them on here.

The reason is that none of us like being rejected or worse shunned by someone we like, and took the time to get in touch with.
No one has to be courteous/kind, that is true, but it certainly makes for a more pleasant day when we treat others and are treated that way.   M

I've never fantasized Groucho at those moments. But the ones with slinky eyeballs bouncing and dangling...some additional physical slpstick/cadence.....then there are the Xray specs, in the back of those good always prevails comix. As I do that mastubation scene, wearing them......could I gaze into your mind? your erotic self? What is there?

The simple solution to that problem is to grow a skin.  There are worse things in life to be concerned with.

Of course, if you simply can not handle being rejected you can always solve the problem with not writing letters to begin with, because the only person you have control over is yourself.  But that would be rather self-defeating now would it not?

BlkTallFullfig -> RE: Why? (8/5/2006 10:11:30 PM)

I cannot tell you how many times in real life and on these boards I've seen people who profess not to care what others think of them come begging for sympathy and care.   I at least admit to having human emotions and desires, which in no way means that I cannot cope (without anxyolitics/antidepressants even) with life as is, or the crudeness that is commonplace.    M

I have had the pleasure to meet people who are so unsullied by the disappointments of life, or somehow so oblivious and/or forgiving of them. It is like being in the blessed company of innocence and pure openess. I can't imagine how they remain thus, but love the time with them. They are rare. I resist my impulse to enlighten them to the real world. And leave them before I am too frustrated with them. They amaze and confound me. Though I love bhuddism, I guess I am far from Nirvana.
