Oh Puh-leeze!  You have to find a slave who has some sort of compatibility with you.  You have to get to know the slave as a PERSON rather than an object.  I do not suggest "lifestyle" slaves who frequent play parties because they tend to be sensation-addicts.  It is a brutal conversion for a  "lifestyle" slave to go from an hour of play per month to 24/7 dull drab REAL LIFE. 
 
Looking for a year is nothing.  it took me 5 to find mine. Things worth keeping are worth waiting for.

Best way i have found to find a good slave is not to be looking. I found my boy completely by accident.
The harder you look, the less likely you are to find what you want.  You try too hard, and you miss the important little things like deeper compatibility beyond just Master/slave

Serious slaves, in my experience, will find you, if you're worthy and do a decent job of getting your reputation out there where they can hear about you.  For that, I recommend being active in your local community.  The internet is too full of the clueless and the pretenders.  I expect a lot of a serious slave, but I wouldn't ask anyone to try sorting the wheat from the chaff online.
