LotusSong -> A Thought for the Day (8/5/2006 5:42:24 PM)

I was reminded of a story today about the Trials of Troubles.

The story goes”

God had listened to all the laments of the people soliciting him for relief from their heartaches, ills, and disease.

He had the people gather in a circle and take all their issues and put them in a pile in the center of the circle.

He then asked them all to pick one to replace their own.

They all took their own problem back.

(Just a thought for the day.)

nice.. can i use that?

That really makes you realize that your problems are not always so bad....there is always someone else who is worse off.

Kedikat -> RE: A Thought for the Day (8/5/2006 6:44:45 PM)

What's God got to do with it?
And what is the point?
Shut up and quit whining? Solve your own problems, because I am just another mythical being?
I was sad because I had no shoes, till I saw a man with no feet. So I asked if he had a spare pair of shoes he wasn't using.

Man was he pissed at me.

Awww. that was just mean!

The point here Kedikat is that this is a forum where as people can freely share such thoughts, or even questions, concerns, etc. Just because it may not be applicable to you, please don't be so critical. Let others simply share whatever may be on their minds without having to dodge incoming stones.

By the way, to the OP, I thought it was a nice share. Thanks

Two buddhist monks who had taken a vow to never touch a woman (poor things) were walking back to their monastery after being away on some travels. They came to a river they had to cross and there was a lady there dressed in her wedding apparel, she told the monks the bridge had broken but she needed to cross this river to get to the wedding, she said she didnt know what to do as she didnt want to wreck her wedding dress having to wade through the river. To the shock and disdain of one of the monks the other picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder and carried her across the river. He set her on dry land on the other side and she went on her way to attend her wedding so grateful her dress wasnt ruined. The monks continued on the way to the monastery, one monk bickering at the other, chastising him for breaking his vow saying all kinds of horrible things to him being really judgemental and everything. When they approached the monastery gates he finally said " I'm gonna have to tell the Master about this, you hve broken your solem vow never to touch a woman!!". The other monk finally spoke and said " I left the woman at the river, why are you still carrying her?"

Thanks for sharing your parable LotusSong, I love little learning stories [:)]

Ooops sorry. Didn't know sweet syupy stuff was off limits to opinions. Still, might want to leave God, people etc out of things, so as to be neutral.

Both monks should have ignored her, for various reasons. Her being more worried about her material wedding dress than just getting to her wedding for one.
