Any number of movies that are torture to sit through.

I never say the movie but "Boxing Helena."    I heard the plot
and it grossed me out.

"Videodrome" was a great movie with S&M undercurrents.

While not directly BDSM themed, Boxing Helena is a sick twisted movie! Loki and I have seen it a few times. It's one of those very specific kinks, and is the movie that Kim Basinger dropped out of, causing her to get sued for, and lose, millions.

I've been trying in vain to rent Secretary for a while now, but glad to know Oxygen is playing it, although I'd be interested to know how much has been cut for "television" viewing.....anyone know?

I sitll maintain that if people could stop their "That's not reality!" issues with movie watching and bdsm, Exit to Eden is a very fun and funny movie and a great way to break the ice with a new partner you want to come out to.

I like that movie a lot, a good way to get a conversation going.

Of course I lived in NYC when it came out and I remember the munch group got together and went to see it. I came armed with my riding crop and the ticket collector at the door said, "I bet I know which movie you're going to go see" and bowed a bit and let us in. It was like a full row of us munch goers at the movie.

And at least it does have people being kidnapped and their body parts being cut off -- I don't consider those movies as anything having to do with BDSM in any form myself.

i remember a movie i saw long time ago which was very D/s. Swept Away (older version) i believe they have done a remake (with Madonna) that IS NOT the movie i am talking about lol    i am talking about the italian version written and directed by Lina Wertmuller

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073817/

Also, Eyes Wide Shut - saw it a few years ago - didn't like it very much but i recall many saying it was a bdsm movie.  i thought it was just weird.

The Story of O miniseries was very good and quite true to the book.

Okay, I must confess there was something about The General's Daughter that always stood out for me.

Crash. The Cronenberg one.
Blue Velvet.
Videodrome. Cronenberg again. ( with good mental control aspect too ) Debbie Harry Yum!
Boxing Helena.
There is a very wierd one also starring Julian Sands from Boxing Helena where he plays twin gynecologists thet are both going crazy, or maybe there is just really one of them? The gynecological instruments of torture they create and use are very twisted. I cannot recall the name of the movie. Very twisted. probably canadian :)

Ahhhh Found it!
Dead Ringers. Again Cronenberg. Wonderful Canadian perv that he is :) The twin gyno freaks movie. Not Julian Sand, but Jeremy Irons plays the maniacal twins. Apparently based on some true story. Slip into the stirrups girls hehehehhe scoot a bit forward.......

Morsprofundis -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 9:10:43 AM)

"Autum Born" with the much abused Dorothy Stratten.
Also a French offering called "Baba Yaga" with a flogging at the end.
"Belle du Jour" is correct, I think, it refers to a flower that blooms during the day, Denuves character adopts it as an alias.
Don't forget "The Whip and the Body", aka "What?" with Christopher Lee, and "The Entity" with Barbra Hershey being abused by a poltergeist-she's sexy!

swtsouthernsub -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 9:23:42 AM)

9/1 WEEKS

MzTlaz -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 9:34:09 AM)

I love "Secretary".....and yes they blurred a bunch of stuff and cut some bits out for Oxygen....it does show some beauty in bondage...the opening is divine.

A movie that doesn't get put into the BDSM rank but certainly has a lot of elements including a fetish artist who likes to be whipped is "The Color of Night" with Bruce Willis and Jean March (?).  It's also a very good movie.

It's hard to believe that "9 1/2 Weeks" is about twenty years old now....loved that movie when it came out.

Re: Belle DE vs, DU: I will make sure the typist receives an extra hour of flogging...

An awesome movie with BDSM themes: VIDEODROME... I won't give much away but, among other scenes, you do get to see Deborah Harry/Blondie cut ther luscious tit with a razor blade...

Aneirin -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 9:40:50 AM)

The Crow, the second one I think, although both are very stylish.

Candlescandles -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 10:17:02 AM)

Does anyone know where one can rent the Story of O moive or mini series?

Candles

Morsprofundis -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 2:45:10 PM)

"Story of O", is available for purchase cheaper than you can rent it, try E-bay
"Videodrome has been issued in a remastered version, with an extra's disk of all the torture scenes, unblurred, and at length.
It's a great country, isn't it?

mstrjx -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 4:05:29 PM)

A little earlier today I looked up the Story of O miniseries on Amazon, and all they had was the entire set (5 DVD's with 2 episodes each) for PAL region 0, which would not be able to be seen on American DVD players.

Another trip through the DVD case found two more titles I had missed mentioning yesterday.

Fruits of Passion (also known as a semi-continuation of Story of O, assuming O had somehow ended up in Southeast Asia)

In the Realm of the Senses

La Pianiste. A case of a sub being dominant to get what she wants which is how the dynamic works as far as I can see. This uncannily reminds me of a social worker I knew, cold and fucked up. Good film though.

sofaking -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 6:03:00 PM)

one movie which may not be 'S&M themed' but nonetheless carried a strong message with some compelling thoughts on the nature of fear and the power of BDSM as a vehicle to free oneself of the trappings of a dogmatic society was 'V for Vendetta'.

watching Natalie Portman involved in ageplay with a priest, kidnapped, water tortured and shaved was almost too much.. the only thing that killed the mood was her shitty faux english accent cutting in and out like my cell phone reception at home.  ARG!

Hugo Weaving gave his best performance to date IMO but are you telling me he couldnt find a gag ball somehwere in that fantasticaly rich dungeon???

i think i shall watch again tonight, did anyone else appreciate this film?

Kitsa -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 6:07:44 PM)

Fairly Mainstream Movie with SM I can think of is "Secretary" with Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader.

troch -> RE: Can you name any mainstream S&M themed movies? (8/20/2006 6:16:27 PM)

Has anyone seen "The last days of Frankie the Fly" ?  Daryl Hannah plays an acrtess who is a Domme in BDSM movies.  The who movie is about control, whick is why the BDSM background is so interesting.
