just a thought.

compatibility isn't always a deal-breaker, hence compromise (I can't possibly do all the things I'd want to anyway, lol).
lack of integrity can easily be (and has been) a relationship killer.

Just one? That is to hard of a decision, there are so many things that are a major factor in any relationship for me to just pick one.

Intelligence

Patience
Honesty
Personality

Yes my dear, submissiveness is very much a trait. A trait is defined as "a distinguishing characteristic or quality, esp. of one's personal nature" (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=trait) To me, submissiveness is an integral component of a D/s or M/s relationship. With out this trait, there would be no relationship.
