If you mean that you're waiting for someone from the middle east to speak up, it may be awhile. I don't think there are many that frequent the boards.

Okay, Lotus, I found the answer for you.

If you cannot participate in an intelligent conversation intelligently... just don't... ok?

Or as Ron White says "Next time you have a thought?.. just let it go".

*gets on loudspeaker*......... if anyone finds Lotus' sense of humor, bring it to the front desk.

When I say "boards" I mean those that post in here; I can't think of a single one that does so. If you mean lurkers...... I'd love to hear from them as well. I'll even attempt to act intelligent.

There are things that are catagoricaly wrong across the board.

Let's question this first, then.

Why are they wrong?  Because your American views think it is?  How much more racist can someone get, than to state that another culture is simply "wrong?"

And as to Level's comment about dogs driving, I agree.  I mean, serious media would have reported that the dog was driving perfectly, but the lady confused the gas and the brake.

benji

I've never been good at finding those things.  Although I did just get smacked by a giant Level's sense of humour.

Edited to add:  I, personally, consider the question to be anything but intelligent, by the way, and I thought Level's comment to be quite on the level, if I may level with you on the level.

seeksfemslave -> RE: Bottom of the Food Chain (8/28/2006 11:31:40 AM)

Surely benji mutilating the genitalia of females is wrong,  isnt it ?  We are talking mutilate NOT decorate.
This was mentioned earlier by the way.

My apologies.. usually I'm lighter.. I'm just in a mood today .  And I've beaten on all the Republicans already :)  (They're just no fun any more!)

Actually, I'm going to try to take a break form the board until this passes today.

Level -> RE: Bottom of the Food Chain (8/28/2006 11:33:10 AM)

Look out, benji, or we'll get "iggied" again [:D].

In all seriousness, though, I agree with Lotus that many women in the middle east are treated wrongly. I don't see that as rascist, it's the application of a moral standard. If I see a woman (or man) being treated horribly here, I feel the same way.

Apologies accepted. I was the same way a couple of days ago.

My friend, you're as level-headed as they come [:D]

gooddogbenji -> RE: Bottom of the Food Chain (8/28/2006 11:37:16 AM)

Would I do it, or support it?  No.

Do I have the perspective to judge an entirely different culture, which I do not understand?  No.

Does my moral compass have more importance than that of someone else?  No.

Do I want to tell others how to live?  No.

Other cultures should be as free to practice theirs as we are to practice ours.  Telling them they may not do what they do is the same as as them telling us we may not do what we do.

Over time, they will change, but who are we to judge a culture which is so much like ours was a few years ago?

Yours,

benji

NastyDaddy -> RE: Bottom of the Food Chain (8/28/2006 11:38:10 AM)

What's wrong with letting the dog drive to his own demise?

Li was probably taking the dog for it's ceremonial ricefest... where the dog has been starved for two weeks, and then offered a large bowl of rice... followed by a slightly smaller bowl of water. This of course causes the rice to further expand within the dogs stomach, killing it. All is not lost however, the now dead dog is buried under a banana leaf layered mixture of fruits and veggies, and a few snakes and lizards for flavor... to be burned for 12 hours (or overnight).

The celebration includes digging the simmered dog up and splitting it's stomach open to devour the "just right" rice... considered a delicacy in many oriental islands and many parts of the Chinese mainland.

I don't believe the news report was accurate, as it stated that Li paid for the auto damages... we all know it was her husband, LOL!

gooddogbenji -> RE: Bottom of the Food Chain (8/28/2006 11:42:13 AM)

See, now if they did that with cats, or women, or any other inferiour life forms, it would be the greatest thing ever!  But with dogs?  Sorry, that's just wrong.

Yours,

benji

PS:  I am kidding.  Really, I am.

I would only say that one person's moral compass may be better, or more accurate, than another's. Ghandi's was better than Stalin's.

It's interesting that not one of those cultures are speaking up yet.. I'll be anxious to hear from them.

Here's one you may have somehow missed:  http://www.collarchat.com/m_559468/tm.htm

From our perspective, yes.  I realize I am getting quite philosphical, but what makes our perspective the right one?

I don't know which perspective would make Stalin a better person than Ghandi, but as a subscriber to both Nietzsche and Machiavelli, I would say they were both very good at what they did.

M.SFS-

Interesting question. Is mutilating the genitals of males wrong? Yet in certain cultures, boys are subjected to genital multilation as soon as they are born.

Stay warm,

Hmm. I would say our's is better (in this instance, no promises that it always is) due to this: a man in Pakistan (or Houston, or Reykjavik) beats the living shit out of his wife because he thinks she did not show him proper deference. My perspective is that action is wrong. I say my perspective is right, or better, because it allows for the defense of someone helpless, Mr Beater's perspective says "it's how I want to be, or it's how I was raised". He hurts her, I don't. Now, if she's on one of the other threads talking about her goals to be the world's greatest pain-slut, that blows everything I've said to hell lol, but let's say it isn't consentual.

I really do need to study a bit of Nietzsche and Machiavelli someday... [X(]

I accidentally deleted the rest of your quote.  Was this the justification for the bad guy or the good guy? [sm=lol.gif]

Quick piece of advice - before getting into Nietzsche, read a summary of his work.  I find his writings to be quite dry, despite his good ideas.  If you have no idea what to expect, you'll prolly give up halfway through chapter 1, like I first did.
