My friend just told me that her boyfriend popped the question yesterday, they've known each other for 6 months I don't know I just think ya know after 6 months you barely know eachotha that well to get married and all that, they're going to be engaged until she finishes college in 2 years though but I mean hey 6 months...I don't know I mean..what's the rush what do you think of it? :/ I'm not sure what to say I mean gosh I'm happy for her but what kind of makes me hesitate is that it's only been 6 months..I know it's none of my business but it just got me thinking..

And how long is the planned engagement if she is waiting until she finishes college?

You don't like the situation. The question is why? Are you jealous? Do you dislike the boyfriend? What's your beef? Why is it your business (you admit it isn't)? Why can't you just be happy and supportive of your friend's good fortune?

uhm actually I'm extremely happy for her and I wish her all the best. They'll be engaged for 2 years. I'm VERY cool with this all actually and I'm very happy for them.
Jealous? honey I'm a LESBIAN
The boyfriend is fine
I was just THINKING (mind stop judging me?) about early marriages..because most guys I know either don't want to get married or wait until they're sure but this is after 6 months and I'm just wondering how well you get to know a person after only 6 months. I KNOW they'll be together first for 2 years I was just...pondering.

Marriage..........bleck!

All sarcasm and snotty ass comments on my part aside. I am against anyone making a long term commitment at that age. Unfortunately most have to learn the hard way, thru experience.

It's on the lean side for me, but not horrendous.  After all you see people getting collared here before they even meet offline, or after only one meeting.

Was she putting out?  Since they don't seem in any real hurry to actually GET married it makes one wonder if the symbol of marriage is what is more important.  Besides, when do kids make good decisions anyway?

:) How often do adults make good examples of themselves?

You could tell her to check out www.truewifeconfessions.blogspot.com.  That's my favorite karma-exploding voyeuristic website these days.

My former wife moved in with Me the day we met.  A year and a half later we married.  We were together over ten years.  My parents were engaged after nine weeks.  They have been married for 37 years now and still going strong.

Relax.  Anything is possible.  Be happy for them and certainly offer them My congratulations as well.

I've known people who have known each other for 2 days and got married.  Sure it didn't last long term but it did last a year or so.
Who knows?  Myself, Doug and I were together more than 7 years when we got married.  Though that was our preference...we had planned on marrying 3 years prior.
It could work....wish them the best.

Think less about matters that have nothing to do with you. If you are happy about this situation then you have a strange way of showing it.

People used to get married young all the time and it worked out ok for them. I think that today there are more challenges to marriage, but hey, I think it is fine to get engaged after 6 months...

For those who are wondering, statistically speaking, those who have longer courtships do not have more successful marriages, it is shown that courtships that last under a year are more successful for a lasting marriage. I do not know why, but it is so.

Since he is the ex, do you still think it was the right choice for you to make?  Were all of those 30 years truly fulfilling?

Well you know what they say.....marriage is a great institution if you are ready to be institutionalized.

It was not the right choice to make for me, but I was only 19, and was very foolish. And no, not all of the 30 years were fulfilling, but no ones life is 100% fulfilling.  But, you just never know, the oddest couples make it sometimes.  My mom and dad dated for 3 months, and they are still married, 53 yrs later.
