Would you vote for a woman to be president?  If yes, why?  If no, why?

Yes, if she was bright enough, had a mixture of compassion and strength, believed in self-responsibility as well as helping those that honestly needed help, and if she had great legs, that'd be okay too.

Well Mrs Thatcher once told G Bush 1st not to go wibbly wobbly over Eyeraq. so maybe she was well endowed.

There's a rude soccer crowd chant as follows.....
Mrs Thatchers got one Ted Heath is one.    Ted Heath was a Brit PM.

The one in question is the female... errr... bits I have seen referred to as the old barn doors.

Why would you not expect a serious answer out of anyone?

(sigh)  THAT'S what we thought we had with BUSH!!

I think the rest of the word would welcome it..but here in America.. the "Good Ol Boys" club is still running the show.  They are too immature.

Oooooooooooh I could hear the debates now.. after they dig up dirt of any sort like "she wore WHAT to the prom?!"  She's STILL menstruating?????  Oh my!  What about the PMS???  (a glaring example is post 9 below me)

Any issues for debate would be lost in the cat-calls.  Whoever it would be would have to a very strong woman to even attempt it to put up with that crap.  It's been the opposition, not the woman candidate, that would make us look like fools (as if it could get worse after THIS presidency).

It would depend on the maturity of the country concerning a woman candidate.  We have a some very capable women out there.

But I know this country is anal enough it will vote for the party that has the male candidate.. no matter how good the woman is.

I don't see Hillary running.. if she did, she'd loose because of the specter of her husband's idiocy with Monica.

I feel the best chance for the Democratic party to get in is a black male  candidate (Obamma).. because there is noise that the Republicans are thinking about Condi as a possible candidate.

Interesting..what if it was a Hilliary vs Condi race?

I wouldn't vote for Condi because of her involvement with this administration.  I don't trust ANYONE in the present cabinet.  But I do like her.  She'd have to prove to me she hasn't been tainted or that her ambitions are above self-interests.  Hillary.. love her but she has too much baggage and no one would hear her above the jeers about the past.

It's just dirty business all around.

No, despite the fact women such as Condoleaser have made milestones with regard to demonstrating women can say something on camera without having a single clue as to what they are talking about, and totally forget saying what they said when people ask did you say what I thought you said?

Besides, the rose garden does not have a gyno fixture and is not well suited for cunnilingus.

You really want to see interesting, put Obama against Rice, two black Americans...... you  think a third party would sprout up quicker than weeds? I'd probably pick Obama, but as you said, I like Condi too, but she might hew too closely to the way things are going, I don't know.

M. LS-

Do you think it's fair to say that any woman who did win, (given our current social/ cultural enviorment) wouldn't be a 'woman' (in the sense that Ms. Rice is not 'black')?

Depending on the woman I would vote for her.   Liz Dole is a yes,  Hillary Clinton is a definate no, Elanor (sp) Roosevelt is a maybe, Connie Rice is a definate no.

I'll need you to elaborate on what you mean...it's going right over my head (I'm a woman you know :)

The one thing that Obamma will have to fight is inexperience.  That's the ONLY thing I've heard said negatively about him.  But he is one smart man.  I think we have all learned that race means diddly in getting things done.  Nagen is the example.  Condi is very shrewd.  She knows how to play the Washington game.  But has she sold her soul for it, is what I would want to know.

I'd like to be stubborn and vote a Democratic ticket.. but I, too, will research and decide who is the better person.  We need to get over race and gender in this election regardless.  There is way too much at stake.

I do not envy the next president who gets in regardless who or what party.  They are going into a train wreck.

That's the sort of thing I mean- M. Rice (IMO) has sold her soul- she wouldn't be a black woman in the white house, she'd just be another puppet of the ol boys club...

I hope she doesn't also have the encasing sack, or I'd have to ask What kind of women have you been hanging with?
To the OP, yes I would vote for a fem president, but don't currently know anyone I respect who would run, and for whom I would vote.

TopCat I believe that is exactly what Ms Rice has done, and why LS is saying she's sold her soul for it...  A sentiment with which I agree completely.  M

I echo this.  Gender, race or religeon do not matter.  Character, ethics, and track record do.

How about adding to your list core values of which I belive character and ethics are only two small parts
