I guess I better go dress up and put on make up for my pics, didn't know we were being critiqued, lol.  Not to mention telling brother to clean up the tree debris from his yard too, lol.  [:D]

So basically...you get to play it safe but the woman should make herself look as alluring as possible to capture your attention, and at the same time put HERSELF at risk?

Where can I find another like you? [:o]

I would bet that statistically, you are more likely to pick up a stalker at Starbucks, the bank or the library (i.e. someplace where the freak saw you in person) than you are online.

cuddleheart50 -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/9/2006 8:31:15 PM)

Yea, cleaning up the tree debris would be a good idea, kinda makes it look like you are living on a farm.  [:D]

Who said they have no time to do their hair and put on makeup?  Do you have time to dress, or eat?

FelinePersuasion -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/9/2006 9:19:26 PM)

and second of all what does picture niceness have to do with the bdsm discussion thread lol.

But, if you are going to just take a picture for the purpose of putting a face to a name, clean up, do your hair, put on makeup (within reason).

yeh I like all that in your face stuff _but_   _here comes the truth_ (well mebbe not the truth but the truth as I as see it ;-)

'do up your hair, makeup blah blah blah'

O wait, sorry, not here to please you. Just here to exchange ideas. My hair is my hair my make-up (or lack thereof) is my makeup. This is me. Get used to it.

Im a little teapot and damn that kettle is black too!

The way I see it is the care that's put into a photo posted for the world to see tells a story about the individual long before even saying hello.  From simple web cam pic's to something creative all give hints.  The backgrounds can offer clues to how they live, or where they've been, age of the photo also tell's alot.  A photo is just part of the advertising.............

Tikkiee -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 4:31:30 AM)

I will admit that I like seeing photos of well dressed, well groomed men and women. However, it just strikes me as hyprocritical to come here and complain about others not having nice, sharp, clean, well groomed photos when the person himself/herself can not return the favor.

/shrug

That's just me though

Blurred edges protect you from stalkers and keep you safe?  Hmmmm, better tell Homeland Security that LOL

Dollbecky -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 5:04:33 AM)

I try to put picures up that show my figure and my dress sense  as well as my face
That way  no one who meets can claim suprise at the way I look :P
If I didnt wear make up   I would put up a pic without make up ....seem commonsense

DougDammitt -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 5:22:55 AM)

My original post must have hit closer to the truth than many may want to admit because of the number of vitriol-laced responses. Several responses revealed the true nature of some individuals instead of the personas they here misrepresent.   In addition, I am curious to know how “I am not talking about a glamour shot. Just present yourself with respect to the recipient, “ became  “complain about others not having nice, sharp, clean, well groomed photos.” This is similar to the game children play in which a sentence or story is started at one side of the room. That student then whispers in the ear of the next student and so on. When the sentence or story has reached the last student, the wording and idea are different, often showing no likeness to the original story or sentence.

ScooterTrash -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 5:23:07 AM)

Oh well..I'll just look like a long haired biker and take my chances...lol.

zumala -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 5:33:11 AM)

I always just supposed that people had photos up that they wanted to put up.  They must surely have their reasons for presenting themselves the way that they do.

I am not wearing makeup in my photo because I don't commonly wear makeup.  It's a natural photo.  I believe in presenting myself as I am, and not as a false front.  In other words, with me what you see is what you get.

Noted to say that this was in direct response to the OP.  I hadn't read the thread itself yet.

Since i was looking for a long haired bearded biker that worked out rather well didn't it?

I post no photo for reasons most here have already read over and over but i prefer pictures of folks being who and what they are in everyday life. The question that comes to my mind is that what would you rather see, what you are going to be waking up with in the morning or what someone has spent hours making themselves up to be?

If i were to post an honest profile pic of me it would either be me sitting naked at my puter, out in the garage in grease and paint or in the yard with mud up to my elbows, or better yet standing on the porch in my favorite cheesy leopard print nightie with a big dumbass grin holding a frog in my hand showing Jewel while she alternatively smiled cause i was so excited about the frog and grimaced cause she does not like frogs. Any of these would be an honest photo.

The best part? They see all of these "pictures" of me and they love me for every one. I think i prefer that to being picked because my hair was done and i put makeup on.

ROFLOL, twice.  You sound a bit like me, there.  Should've seen the look on my mom's face when I walked in the door with a little rolypoly (aka pillbug) giving birth in my palm.  I'd never been shooed out the door so fast!  Still, she does get credit for letting me keep the preying mantis I found for a few months.  And my dad did at least nod over the metallic gold beetle I found while we were visiting the Smoky Mountains.

My family doesn't get me.  But they just smile, nod, and occasionally offer a word of encouragement.

If we ever (I know, I know, not likely) run into each other.  We should take a nature walk and see what we can find.

Nope.  In reality, what it's become is "don't chuck stones if your ass is sitting in a glass house."

GddssBella -> RE: Presenting Yourself in Pictures (9/10/2006 7:04:26 AM)

G'morning all:

Got to love  a double standard. *chuckling* By the way OP? You could be found just fine, with or without a picture. As to the quality of your pic? Fie on you for being a hypocrite. Present yourself better before you begin pointing fingers and making silly accusations. Next time, you might want to avail yourself of the search function. LA's made it easy for you.

Amen. [;)]

As I see it? If I see a less than complimentary picture? It gives me a clue as to the person's lifestyle, their standards on cleanliness, their self image, etc. If someone is neglectful or poor in those areas, it's an indication I may want to re-evaluate having anything to do with that person. So, having a "bad" picture is as informative as a "good" picture.

Just present yourself with respect to the recipient.
Why on earth should anybody do so? If the recipient doesn't like it, he/she can bloody well stuff themselves. No one's here to please anybody else. Nor do they have to live their lives constantly worrying about what other's think. Take your own advice as well. Employ a photo management program and clean up the blur. Cripes.

Stay safe, play nice, & share your toys w/ others...

I think that in your orginal statement "present yourself with respect to the recipient" in my opinion you come across as trying to claim power over others that is not yours to claim. I also think that you assume that people are here to please you in some way. The reality is not EVERYONE is here to please YOU and many probably careless if you beleive they appear "unkept" or "slobbish" because you are not a key player in THEIR life or even a player of any kind.

In my opinion your orginal post and even this one came across very judgemental and very arrogant. Now to me how someone comes across in posts , emails and conversations is the true determing factor about how they carry themselves. So what does that say about you?

Simply put if you don't like someone's photo or the perception you receive from it simply move on but remember your perception is not everyone's perception it is yours and you do not have a right to make demands on anyone.
