OK ibet you didn't know i used to be a member of the Ricky Nelson and the Pat Boone fan clubs.[:'(]

WUAAAAH! You're right, I didn't! You got me there (although I do know who both are). I cringe when I think of Debbie Boone. What was that song that got so much radio play???? I'm reluctant to look it up because if it gets stuck in my head I may want to fall on my sword (I've been kinda moody lately). [:D]

Who were the original members of "The Band", recorders of the song "The Weight"?

You got me, too! (I'm feeling better now, thank you)

I have to be honest when I say that I can think of a couple of good tunes by The Band (mostly the "radio" tunes), and I also think of Robbie Robertson, but I don't know enough about The Band to rattle those kinda stats off. Of course a websearch might help, but I'm kinda thinking you already know and hoping you might enlighten me (and anyone else here who might find it of interest).

Thanks, I don't feel quite as decrepit as this thread was starting to make me feel! hahahaha

Damn, I should read these threads through and save myself a post or two here and there.

....referring to The Byrds

A reunion concert of the surviving members of The Byrds and other artists was called off as McGuinn will not play with Crosby. The concert was set down for January 12 and would have also included Andrew Gold's group Byrds of a Feather as Gold does a very good 12 string and vocals.

Yes indeedy, the wrinkles are disappearing from my face as I read the direction this thread took since I last looked in.

Thank you! [:D]

rubytuesday -> RE: These time's they are a changin! (1/8/2005 11:38:56 PM)

rubytuesday decides against mentioning her huge pre teen crush on Donny Osmond and David Cassidy.
And the fact she has no idea who Ricky Nelson was????????

Post-Beatles Paul (and Linda) McCartney band.

Paul McCartney was one of the Beatles (in case you didn't know).

They wer e heavily influenced by Bob Dylan and origianlly the group was called Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks, Later Levon and the Hawks, then The Band

Being the back up musicians for Dylan on these albums is a bit more than "heavily influenced". I thought it was just on The Basement Tapes until I looked it up before running my mouth here.

Which is why the history of American Rock starts with Dylan - if he only could sing.

EStrict -> RE: These time's they are a changin! (1/9/2005 10:27:13 AM)

::Laughing:: every time I think of Dylan, I think of the stories I have heard about Master's Uncle who taught him piano in high school. He was always grumbling (before his death) about Dylan's *wasted talent* as he is a classically trained pianist (and very good at it). I always thought that since the music playing seemed to come so naturally he should have spent his time on voice lessons! But I guess that would take away his *unique* way of doing things....
