I'm wondering how the women on these boards react to posts and profiles which frequently use the word "females" and never "women."  Do they cause you to wonder about the guys who post them?

I don't ponder it too much since I know they can be used interchangeably to mean the same thing even though they are not.

Typicaly I refer to myself as a woman.  I identify my sex as female but my real genetic sex is XY so far as I know (I've never been tested for a more exotic variation) and I did develop as a mostly normal male until I finally got a chance to rework things.

"Woman" denotes a sexually mature female.
It connotes someone who is emotionally mature and matronly.

You wouldn't call a young female, a woman.

I call emotionally mature females over the age of thirty-five
women.

I don't see myself as a "man."  I am still too much a child
in many good ways, and a few bad ways.

Even as a child, I was responsible.   I wouldn't call Steve
Irwin a man, because he had a boyish spirit.  I am a lot
like Steve Irwin.   I have the enthuaism, the imagination,
the curiosity, and the rambunctousness of child..

Women are going to find me too childish.

I wouldn't call a 23 year-old female, a woman.
Nor would I call her a girl.   When a female
is too old to be called a girl and not old enough
to be a woman, I call her a female.  "Female" is
an all inclusive term.  "Woman" only refers to
sexually mature, emotionally mature, staid
females.
