Do women actually like football, or do they just watch it to have some common ground to discuss with men?

LOL I love football. Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Thursday nights are the best in this house

I am a die-hard Notre Dame and Denver Bronco fan. Coming in a close second is the Patriots.

football (or i guess i should call it soccer here) is not for me, although i have a friend who plays on a women's team, and several others who support their home team with fierce pride. i did, however, play ladies rugby during my time at uni, and love to play it although find watching all sports far from thrilling.

I agree.  Although I occasionally like to shoot hoops or play some game or another with my peers, I could never really understand the appeal of televised sports. Football, baseball, and soccer are just too DULL to watch. (Sometimes I'll make an exception for basketball.)  I guess that it's one of those "you have to participate to understand" things. Maybe it's just cause I throw like a girl!!!

I love football.  It's a big deal in this house, and we are excited it has started again.  Now, we are getting cable just to be able to watch it.  I am not as crazy about college football, but if I had to pick one it's Wisconsin.  I am a total Packers fan, though they had a crappy time last year.  I hope it will be better this one, just depends on who gets injured.  It's supposed to be Bretts last year, and if that is true, I really hope it goes a lot better.

I have a cheesehead, and we fight over who gets to hold the Official NFL football during the game...It's just something I enjoy a lot, and can't wait till the cable can be hooked up to watch again.  I keep up online though, it's not quite the same but I get a bit of a fix.

So, I guess the answer is YES, I could care a less if there is a guy around to talk to it about.

If someone could maybe explain to me what the hell is going on in the American version of football, then maybe I might be interested. Personally though, I doubt I'd be interested even if I did know! It just seems to be about beating each other up!

Now, if we're talking soccer (British football), then yes - its wonderful! Though I realise that many Americans will be left in the same position as I in relation to the American version!

besides, team sports aren't really my thing - not becasue i'm uncooperative, but i don't really like the competitve nature of them. i know they're mostly friendly fun, but it's still not for me, i prefer outdoor pursuit type sports that challenge the individual in a different way.

Some women really like it.  Especially if it involves the Steelers.  Or the Pats, I know a cool chick who likes the Pats.

I presume you're talking about American football, which is boring as hell and isn't really football as the rest of the world know it.

American football is the most boring sport going. English football is barely better but watchable. I only watch for the legs in shorts to be honest but prefer rugby as i like my men well built. Why on earth would i watch football so i had something to discuss with a man, jeeze !!

Yes I enjoy American football. It is not my favourite sport but I do enjoy it. Watched it just last night in fact, double header but I could not stay up for the second game. I dislike golf, baseball, basketball unless it is women's college, and most other major competitive sports. I do, however love going to a good ice hockey match. And don't EVEN get me started on boxing, I LOVE boxing!!!!! Love love love LOVE it!!!

I hate the new double-header Monday format.  Is that just a football kick off thing or is it around for the entire season?

that goes for any sport..i like to watch when the teams playing have something to do with me..otherwise, i'd rather play
