"Yes, my post was a "gotcha" to be sure ... but of course we are not political leaders. When we "gotcha" each other, nobody really cares."

......just a thought on this point Caitlyn. Why a double standard when it comes to political debate?  If we think of government at its ideal as being for the people, by the people etc, then why use one rule for elected officials and another for everyone else? Surely in a democracy we understand that, in a real sense, we are all political leaders.

Philosophy, we Americans (some can disagree, I did not mean to sound like I speak for us all) have a time honored tradition of talking shit about our leaders, and we even take great pride in it. That being said, because corporations own the megaphone of the media we really are not the ones that get to talk the shit anymore, the media decides who gets to do that... and that seemingly means that nothing of real value gets discussed. I am sure you have heard of Greg Palast(used to work for the BBC), he writes awesome books and articles about our system, and the corruption therein.

I think gotcha to each other is useless and divisive, and to be honest, I never understood defending the credibility of people that we do not know because they share our political leanings. There is this sense of having faith in these people more than having faith in friends and family... I wouldn't defend anyone because they agree on taxcuts or school lunches... it is silly to me really.
