Hi heather [:D]. I actually have never tried pate, so I can't say yea or nay.

Bearlee -> RE: Want some fries with that? (9/23/2006 7:10:17 AM)

Yummmmmmmm pate!  While I love chicken-liver pate...the layered vegetable one is not only a taste treat; it's yummy visually, too!  (since we're talkin 'good for ya' here)       http://www.seacrestfoods.com/images/productpix/patecle.jpg

Edited to add the picture...  Pate comes in many, many flavors; liver or no.

Thanks for the lovely link Bearlee!
Yes, there's a paté for everyboté. :-)

Liver?  YUK!

sharainks -> RE: Want some fries with that? (9/23/2006 7:45:21 AM)

Yes the chitterlings are out too.

That looks wonderful, Bearlee, thanks!  I'll have to find a recipe for that.  I much prefer cooked meals over going out, since...well my cooking tastes better than most restaurants, if I may say so.

(Except for Alliotos or Alegrias in San Francisco)

I admit to going through an occasional drive thru, but it's rare, I never like it, and I always feel crummy afterwards.  I know they've tried to appeals the health conscious by adding salads and stuff but the lettuce always seems freeze-dried to me, and the dressing is horrible.  Yuck.

Thank you but it is just the way that I was raised. I was the oldest of 6 kids in a very poor family. I was lucky in that both my parents were also very concious of good nutrition. And yes, as kids we bartered then bought our own junk food and so did my kids. However, I can see how my kids are now and how they are raising their own. Yes there there is the occasional chips etc but the basics of what T1 and T2 (terror one age 3 and terror 2 age 2) eat, fresh fruits and veggies, low sugar healthy yogurt, cheese, lean meats, etc....They like it because they have been raised on it. Of course they also like chocolate milk and cookies, what kid doesn't. They are just used to it being a treat and in moderation instead of a staple.

I know that many people have just not been educated to know what healthy food is and have not had the opportunity to train their palate and system to be satisfied with it. That is one of the evils of a bad diet, its rather addictive and when you quit and switch to a more whole foods type way of eating your body goes thru this whole deceitful thing of telling you it needs more food. It is just not used to getting the good stuff and is craving the garbage. I know, I just went thru that two weeks ago because I had gotten into a bad rut of crappy food.

Also, someone said something about being handicapped and not able to exercise. Because of a temporary foot problem I cannot run, and very little walking. I might suggest swimming and a rowing machine if the upper body is able. I know that physical impairments can make exercise difficult. I let the foot thing be an excuse to get lazy. I had to quit lying to myself and making excuses.

The bottom line is, to each their own. If someone prefers to eat badly and not exercise that is their choice. If someone wants to eat healthy and exercise that is their choice also. It is their body after-all. I won't let anyone dictate to me how I will treat mine, that is my responsibility as a rational, reasonably intelligent adult.

Now I have to get off my hiney and take two terrors outside to blow off some toddler steam. The roast, potatoes and carrots are in the oven.....grand total to feed 5, 3 adults and two small ones, with leftovers for a pan of beef and noodles tomorrow......about $ 10.00.

I love Pate, I used to make them all the time. The picture shows a vegetable pate "en croute" or with crust. During my apprenticeship I would always be the one to make the pates with the Executive Chef mainly because it was a nasty job and no one else wanted to do it, but in the end I was the only one who knew how to make them besides the Executive Chef. They are definitely not healthy food.

Not even paté, Level?
Come now. It's paté, after all.

Not all pate is made with liver, some are,but not all. Some pates are made with veal, pork, chicken and even vegetables. They can also contain ham, beef tongue as well as truffles for the nicer ones.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Want some fries with that? (9/23/2006 11:00:52 AM)

Never again will I eat beef tongue.  Yeah Yeah, I know, never say never, but...*shudder*...I'd rather not.

I don't know about burger king, but at jack in the box it's 8 something for a hamburger a meduim curlie frie and a hand tossed milkshake.

Definatly NOT three bucks and NOT inexpensive when all you got is 20.

Is there even one meal at Burger King available for as little as $3? Is that child's meal or what? It seems to me the average meal at such places is $4-5 a person. Oftentimes, people buy extra items also, beyond just the plain meal itself.

Sadly, one of my favorite foods is now definitely off the menu: brains. Thank you U.S. ranchers for recycling sick animals and feeding ruminants their own kind. I, and my swiss cheese spongiform brain, salute you!

FelinePersuasion:
Don't eat crap - brown bag it instead. Without any preparation you can eat veggies and fruits that are raw and hand-sized. Non-fat and low-fat yogurt is also all too easy to eat. Don't eat anything with corn syrup, and lower the carbs radically. Try Xylitol instead of sugar:
